Is it legal for pediatricians to do substance abuse testing without the consent of the minor? Would this be included in the normal urine sample that a pediatrician analyzes?

Considering the laws do not give most rights to minors, of course it's legal in most states. (I'm not familiar with each state's laws.) Minors cannot even have sex legally...the law states they are not old enough to make that decision yet.

I do not believe pediatricians look for drugs in a normal urine sample. They'd have to charge extra money, I'm sure...and the parents or legal guardian would have to approve/request it anyway.

This would depend on your state laws. typically, pediatricians cannot perform any tests/procedures etc without a parent's consent - UNLESS, it is an EMERGENCY situation - and the child's life and/or limb is at risk. Drug testing is not done through the "routine" urine sample.
Minor's can "Assent" to tests/procedures - depending on age and ability to understand/comprehend the situation. However, your state law is your best resource.

No, with the permission of the parent or law enforcement they can test. What makes you think minors have rights when adults barely have any rights anymore?
