Galileo was convicted of heresy for saying the earth wasn't the center of the universe
HE WAS RIGHT! THE CHURCH WAS WRONG!
The old Testament is full of scientific, historical and moral insanity. A flat earth, slavery, despotism, genocide, child abuse. Of course, being the word of god, this book is 100% accurate EXCEPT that with the coming of Jesus, none of this stuff applies? Huh?
SO FIRST EVERYTHING GOD SAID WAS RIGHT, THEN IT WAS WRONG!
Enter the new testament, established by the miraculous gifts of from god in the first century. The new testament contains numerous references to the inferiority of women as well as absurdities like all prayers shall be answered, ask and ye shall receive, (tell that to the Tsunami or 9-11 victims) as well as passages that advocate outright stupidity, like drinking snake venom.
So as we advance as a culture, we are once again finding that the information presented in the bible (version II) is
NOW WRONG!
Is anyone seeing a pattern here?

Matthew 18:19
Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
Mark 16:17-18
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
How am I twisting this total bulshit?

Sadly I see a pattern and the pattern is that you have not read the bible. I will address just a few.
Galileo was tried by men who claimed they represented the Church if you would just read a Bible you will soon discover they were no more of the Biblical church than a pile of dog poop
In no place does it ever teach about a flat earth
where does it ever condone child abuse
In the New testament it flatly say we are all equal in Jesus Christ male and female
women are to be treated as Christ treated the church
Answered prayer is always real . This is conditional it is sad folks like you will quote part of a verse out of a chapter and believe that this is all there is. For God also says if you love me and do what I say I will answer your prayer.
Now for drinking snake venom this I can assure you in no where to be found in scripture.
The pattern is you are mistaken seriously about what you quote. Please quit taking someone Else's claims as your own. read and discover for your self the God and the real truth behind the false stories you quote.
I AM PROUD TO BE DUMB IN THE WAYS OF THE WORLD.
YET WISE IN THE WAY OF MY GOD.
IF I CAME BEFORE YOU AND DRANK SNAKE VENOM AND DID NOT DIE WOULD YOU BOW AND CONFESS JESUS. I WILL FLY TO YOU ANY WHERE IN THE WORLD TO DO THIS FOR YOUR SOULS SAKE. YOU CAN EVEN MILK THE SNAKE.

1.Galileo was convicted by a group of men claiming to be the church. The Catholic church is no more the church found in the scriptures than you are. To blame your hate towards Jesus because of this fact is wrong on your part. If you will read the bible you will concur with this fact.
2.your reply to bigmikejones in a single sentance is 100% correct.
yet you are still wrong with the truth you seek to destroy. For the scriptures plainly state God will not hear the crys of the unrightious. So if your prayers were not answered and now you hate God it is not his fault you choose to do things your way and not his
3.As for ratracer I can not attest for his intelligence yet his answer is correct that no where in the bible does it say you can drink snake venom.
If if you will stand for correctness any deadly thing may include snake venom . Yet the passage does not say snake venom there by his statement to you is correct.
4. If you intend to shake a believer you must use the wording used in scripture and not imbellish upon it. for when you change the way it is stated it changes it meaning. If you do not believe this why not write a fifty sentance letter in yahoo answers and allow folks to pick and choose parts out of this letter to give their own interpitation to it. You may be quite supprised. This is the same way you are trying to pick the bible apart. in order to grasp and understand its full meaning it must be read and studied in its entirety not bits and pecies.
5.DRINKING SNAKE VENOM will not harm you unless you have open sores in your mouth or stomach. so do a little scientific study . you will find I am very correct in this answer. Some snake handlers drink venom to help make themselves immune against bites. there is little study if this works.
6. you assume a lot as to the victims .with your statement I assume you have a direct link to God . to know what they were asking for , also I must assume that you personally know those who were asking ,were rightious people God would answer. If you can answer this you are not a athiest you are just someone with a grevience against God . If this being true you need to get your act together for you know better.

Why are you mentioning the Bible and religion in the same question? The Bible is not a book about religion.
The Bible does not claim that the earth is the center of the universe. It doesn't say the earth is flat, either. In fact, Isaiah 40:22 says that it's round.
The Bible records a lot of atrocious behaviour by man (slavery, genocide, child abuse) but that doesn't mean that God endorses such behaviour.
When Jesus was on the earth, women were treated as second class citizens, but he treated women with respect. (Read the dialogue between Jesus and the woman at the well in John's gospel).
Tragedies do occur, but I don't think you can use this fact to prove that God doesn't answer prayer. First off, God is not going to answer any of your prayers until you pray this one: "God, be merciful to me, a sinner..."

If there was no God, each and every person in this world wouldn't have to come to a point in their life when they have to decide if He is there or not. People feel the need to look for Him and find out the truth.
Something to think about..
If you haven't already, search some opinions on google. You'd be surprised! It might help you to see things in a different light. You sound like a very intelligent person. I am sure you have done your research but give it thought "Why do you want to find out about something you believe to be a complete bogus?"What is the point if you are so sure?

You're confusing Christianity with Pope worship.
The Catholic Church regards the word of the Pope as higher than the Bible.
Your misunderstanding of the Bible doesn't mean it's wrong. The Bible doesn't teach "flat earth", despotism, child abuse etc.
You have just decided to hate God.

The problem is youre just repeating propaganda and not thinking for yourself. The Bible doesnt give the kind of support unbelievers think it does to the moral issues you named. If you actually sit down and pray for God to reveal truth to you and read the Bible that way, youll get what you need to know form it to be a great believer for him!
If you want to read it to be an atheistic jerk like many people do, youll get arguments full of holes and make yourself look like a fool like you just did.

Why does the Bible record scientifically impossible events as factual? For example, the creation narrative, Noah's deluge, a solid dome over the sky,Earth supported by a foundation. Why has the evangelical church produced "Creation Science" explanations that are complete nonsense? Why is it that none of the more rational reconciliations of science and the Bible survives scrutiny?
(The water poured through the "windows of heaven" to cause Noah's flood, and then presumably poured off the edge of the
disk-shaped earth into the abyss.)
Simple answer; Absolute non sense

Again i use this.....Jesus did not come to establish yet another religion. He came to fulfill the law of the old testament. In fact, Jesus spoke against the Pharisees, some of the most highly "religious" people of His time. Religion does not save people's souls. There is ONE WAY to heaven. Jesus said,"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6

For over two thousand years, man has tried his best to show that the Bible wasn't correct, and that it was a bunch of lies. In all this time, even with fancy computers to help tear apart the text, he has not been able to disprove the Bible.
So, I don't know what your reading, or quoting, but once again, you ARE WRONG!!! You can take one phrase and twist it around to make something new and what ever you want it to say, it will, but when you take the whole verse, your wrong.
