Bouncers get paid more hourly on the average, while bartending for the most part is a commission job. Even when a bartender gets paid more hourly they end up declaring a lot [tips] to the government and never receive a full paycheck. Someone mentioned something about not knowing any famous bartenders... how about Bruce Willis. He used to poor drinks at the bar in Los Angeles that trained Tom Cruise for Cocktails.

I do some part time work as a bouncer. For a 4 hour shift i get paid 70 dollars. The bartenders get 40 for a 6 hour shift. But on a typical Friday or Saturday night they will each make about 150 a night in tips as well.

In Britain both are low paid jobs. But i think a bouncer gets slightly more than a bartender but they do not get tips whereas the bartenders do.

The bouncer most likely gets a higher base pay, but with tips a bartender makes way more!

Bouncers make lots more per hour from the bar, but the bartenders might end up with more because they get tips. Probably depends on how busy the place is and stuff.

bartenders make less by the hour but make 5 times more in tips. if you are going to bounce, do it in a strip club where you get tipped out by the dancers. At a good place, you can make 4 or 5 hundred a night in tips. At a regular club though, you are looking at ten bucks an hour while the bartenders are making 4,5,6, even 7 bills a night. Good luck in your search.

Bartender. Bouncers have a short span on the job. They get seriously hurt and spend the rest of their lives severly damaged. Their insurance usually does NOT pay for long-term disability.

bartenders get a small check and hopefully large tips, bouncers get a bigger check and no tips but that check is gonna be there whereas the bartender may not get good tips all the time
