I've been running a fever of 102 F since friday night, off and on. Also, I've felt weak, no appetite, coughing and sneezing a lot, and my nose has been running like a leaky pipe. Any suggestions as to whether this is a cold or the flu before i go to my doc in the morning?

In my life, I don't care what the name of the problem is, as long as it Stops! And incidently, what doctors are able to do for either one of those, cold or flu, is about the same. So, here are my favorite home remedies for either one:

First, get a cold/flu remedy like Thereaflu, or, if there's a GNC (nutrition center / health food story) open in your time zone, there's a homeopathic cold / flu thing that's just miraculous.

Besides those, or if you can't get those, melt some Zinc / C lozenges in your mouth. Drink some echinacea tea, and / or swallow some capsules of it. Take a lot of vitamin C (but don't count on that alone to do it.)

Now if you're too sick to go buy any of that stuff or get a friend to do it, here's some more: Water therapy, two ways. 1) Drink a glass of water every fifteen minutes, starting with two glasses. I know, you'll be up for hours (the exercise will do you good LOL), but you're gonna have to call in sick tomorrow anyway, aren't you? Keep drinking until you literally feel it's about to come out your nose. That's how you know when you've got enough. Then just take a little more and you're done for awhile. If you get bored with just water, put some lemon and honey in it. Cokes, soda, milk or juices won't do (orange, or grapefruit juice might help).

2) Take a hot-and-cold shower. 3 min. hot as you can stand it . Notice where you've got it set, because that's what you'll want to come back to. Let your body get nice and pink, until you feel almost faint. Like a sauna. Now, 2 min. cold. All the way cold, unless you're living 'way up north. Count the seconds, 1 hippopotamus, 2 hippopotamus, up to 120 (feel free to scream, sing, dance; after awhile it won't tingle so much and you'll even begin to like it) Now, 3 min. back at hot, at the setting you memorized. This will tingle at first, too! More singing, yelling and dancing. Then cold again. (It won't be so dramatic this time.) Now, if you're going out (to buy meds, or work or something), end with cold, and rub your body hard with a towel for more tingling, to get the blood circulating again. If you're heading to bed or to sleep, end with warm and hopefully your pajamas and bed are all ready so you can jump in and wrap up, because you don't want to get chilled here. This whole thing will take about twenty minutes of your time. You will feel Terrific! when it's over. You might even feel well. But as sick as you are, you need to use every remedy you can, so here are some more:
This is yuk but if your nose is really running like a faucet, you need relief: put some salt in a small glass of water, stir it, take out a spoonful and sniff it up each nostril individually (do this over the bathroom sink, because it will run out!) This is awful, but it will cure the problem (You may need to / want to do it again later, also. On the other hand, if you sniff it way up into your sinuses, it may take care of them completely in one go!)

Lastly, if you're Still sick, go with garlic! Some people, that's their #1 trick. Several cloves. Until you've beat the problem. (But realize, you're gonna stink tomorrow! But, you're gonna lay low anyway tomorrow, right?) Good luck!

Sounds like a cold. But the fever worries me. Either way flu or cold your Dr. isn't going to prescribe anything , because they are both viral infections not bacterial. Save your money , drink plenty of fluids and load up on ester-c. Motrin will help your fever.

it is definitely a flu or a sinus infection
Sinus infection: sneezing, fever, earache, swollen throat glands, yellow snot and/or bloody snot, headache, head pressure, no appetite
Flu: fever, weak, no appetite, need to take over the counter medications for 10 days if it is still in effect then go see a doctor
