I have a prescription for Xanax, and since I react easily to medication, I take 1/2 of a 0.5 mg tablet at bedtime.
During the day, if I'm feeling a lot of anxiety, I will take only 1/4 of a 0.5 mg tablet (teeny tiny piece).
If I took 2 of these, which would be 1 mg, I would be sound asleep within 10 minutes and wouldn't wake up for 8-10 hours. But that's me.
They are pretty powerful sleep medication, anti-anxiety--

.5mg is 1/2 the dose of 1mg. Or to say it differently.. two .5mg pills would equal one 1mg. pill. Good Luck ! :)

you are just taking an xtra .5 mg it depends on severity of your depression/anxiety and or panic attacks
