Just read this...

"An atheist can't be an atheist without an Almighty God to be an atheist against."

Um... so does that mean that there must also be a very UNmighty god since I don't believe in one of those either?

This actually makes me happy. Means I need to start making a list for Santa too...

C'mon, people can't actually say something like that with a straight face, can they?

Must've been my imagination.

This strange type of logic comes from the mind of people who believe that atheists are "rebelling" against god. It simply never crosses their mind that we honestly don't believe. They think it is a form of denial. As usual their logic is circular and folds in upon its self leaving only a bad taste behind.

An Agnostic says he/she does not KNOW whether there is a god or not.
An Atheist, by the very term, says he/she believes there is NO god.

The "A" in the word means "NO".

I don't understand why believing there is "NO god" is any proof that there is a God....though there certainly are many infallible proofs that He does exist.

Yes, it may have been your imagination.

Likewise, if you are right and there is NO god, then perhaps it is just your imagination that there is an Universe, or that you exist, etc., etc.

UUUUUUUUUGH... why do people still say that atheism is a religion? Just because they (INCORRECTLY) assume that atheism requires belief they then "deduce" that it is therefore a religion.

WRONG!

Sheesh... why do I have to explain this over and over? Ok... here is WHY it isn't a religion. These are the necessary elements of a true religion:

Belief in supernatural beings
Sacred vs profane objects, places, times
Ritual acts focused on sacred objects, places, times
Moral code with supernatural origins
Characteristically religious feelings
Prayer and other forms of communication
A worldview & organization of one's life based on the worldview
A social group bound together by the above

If it doesn't qualify, IT DOESN'T QUALIFY. Guess what, folks who claim atheism is a religion? IT'S NOT.

LOL. Is sorta' roundabout ain't it?

I think this quote stems from the observation that alot of Atheists are non-believers due to being disgruntled with what/who they THOUGHT was God. Make sense?

Some people call themselves Atheists, not because of unbelief, but because they feel wronged in some way BY God. They've decided "If God does ..........., He can't be real."

if you don't believe in an almighty God, then why do you even bother to discuss anything about Him? Why the need to try and prove that He doesn't exist if you truly don't believe? He, the Almighty God and His Son Jesus, especially His son Jesus, has been the biggest topic of conversation and controversy ever. Gee, I wonder why! We wouldn't be discussing Him if He didn't exist.

Jesus did not come to establish yet another religion. He came to fulfill the law of the old testament. In fact, Jesus spoke against the Pharisees, some of the most highly "religious" people of His time. Religion does not save people's souls. There is ONE WAY to heaven. Jesus said,"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6

I've heard people honestly argue alot worse things than that.

sometimes its hard to imagine people can really think things like that.

Luckily somehow my faith in humanity has an insane recovery speed, as I'd thought it had been slaughtered repeatedly, but it keeps coming back...

remember these people also think 1+1+1=1.

Zero Cool...you beat me to it. I don't get why people insist that atheism is a religion. That's like saying capitalism is a religion because they all believe in making money. Religion requires a deity and to a atheist, there are no deities.

How can you have a discussion about something that does not exist.

I exist here is the evidence, there is no evidence for God, I define anyone who can give me scientific evidence for the supposedly greatest power that has ever been.

Well in theory you would have to have something that someone else believed in that you did not for you to be an atheist. All that means is that you acknowledged that somebody else believes in it but you do not.
