Unfortunately, the current political climate of the United States has made gay rights, especially marriage rights, a "hot-button" issue. Many conservative religious groups have gotten very involved with this issue. This involvement has clearly spilled over into this website.
I wish that a wider range of spiritual issues could be discussed in a respectful way.

Because men have made most religions into a club exclusively run by males, and then in their confusion added anti-female rules like celibacy, it is only natural that same gender sexuality keeps coming up in the religion category. It follows "like the night does the day."

Why shouldn't it? We are all children of the Gods no matter what the Judeo-Christians say. Pagans have no problem with gays or same-sex marriage, never have.

Because the religiously pious tend to have a bizarre fascination with/hatred of sexuality, especially sexuality that is not like their own.
I can't really say why that is; i do not know.
