Nothing personal folks. I didn't mean it in a bad way.....

I know sometimes I am in a hurry to get my answer in there first, as first answers get more consideration. I am an excellent speller but a crummy typist.

This message was spell checked with no errors found.

First, the spell check is at the top instead of the bottom, requiring the person to reverse course to use it.
Also, I have found, especially on longer answers, that the the little symbol goes around and around and never gets done.
Third, many of us have some ideas, but are not good typists. We are in a hurry to get our answers in , so we don't always check as well as we would like.
Next, the spell check does not pick up homophones or poor grammar. So , if I type "their," instead of "there," the spell checker will not pick up on it, but a human reader might.
Finally, there is the curse of the new shortcuts used in e mails and chat rooms. U fr you, TU for thank you, LOL for laughing out loud, etc.

As an English teacher, I find it annoying, but if I can figure out what the person means, I just go with the flow. If I am not sure what the person means, I ignore it and do not answer the question. If someone answers my own question with lots of misspellings, it probably will not get my vote as best answer. I admit it is a prejudice of mine.

I don't know...it cracks me up though...

I deal with a lot of people thru emails including my boss & supervisors, and it just AMAZES me how bad their spelling is! But here's the trippy part...overall, it is the men that are the worst offenders (especially my boss!). I think women are more likely to take an extra minute to actually use Spell Check.

To be fair though, I've noticed that when I use it, it doesn't always catch misspelled words. I like to use onelook.com as my backup when a word looks off.

if YOU use it, then why should it be your concern if OTHERS don't use it?
