I was just wondering what the average time that it takes to housebreak a puppy. I can't really find the answer on the Web. What are people's experiences? I have a 7 week old Boxer and she seems totally clueless, is it due to her young age?

It was taking forever with mine also until I started crate training her. You get her a doggie crate and let this be her little home (make it comfortable for her), let her get used to it, and start closing the door on her a little at a time, and start taking her out every two hours on a leash to where you want her to go. Just keep repeating this.
Here is a puppy "potty" guide.
6 weeks-4 hrs.
8 weeks-5 hrs.
12 weeks-6 hrs.
5-6 months-about 8 hrs.
Her natural instinct will be to keep her "home" clean and she will start to hold it longer.

If you do it right it can take 2 to 3 weeks. I have a Golden and a Havanese. The Golden learned in 2 and a half weeks and the Havanese learned in 2 weeks.

It can take a few weeks to a few months depending on the dog and how well the person's training them.

i think it took mine like 3 or 4 weeks and i got him when he was 8 weeks it just depends on if the person you got him from took time to teach him or not

it goes faster if you are aptient and persisant crating him at night walks til he gets the idea it shouldonly take a month but i have heard it can take a year my own dog was trained in a bout a month
