First check the obvious... that your speakers are plugged in correctly, they have power (if required) and that the volume is turned up on both the speakers and within your OS.

If all the above is fine, try reinstalling your soundcard drivers. You should have a CD with these on it. If not, go to the manufacturers website and download them.

Plug in your speakers, reboot, reinstall your sound-driver.

Too hard to trouble shoot a hardware problem with the limited info you gave.

have you tried the green input on the back of your tower, where the speakers plug in...if not, my best guess is to open the tower, and replace the speaker module. or just get new speakers, whichever suits your fancy...

try restarting your computer and then turning on the sound or valume
