An atheist asked me this question and I didn't have an answer. If God os omnipresent, then shouldn't he be in Hell too? And what about the separation we have from God through sin, doesn't he dwell with unbelievers as well as believers? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. No non-Christian responses are solicited please.

Psa 139:7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
Psa 139:8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
Psa 139:9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Psa 139:10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

God is in all places at all times is true. The Holy Ghost is like sunshine. It is the person who through their disobedience to Gods word that hold him out. Like wearing sunglasses, you can get some that just take the glare off, or you can get a welding helmet that holds almost all light out so not even the sun can be seen. Thus given every man on earth are sinners and to some degree have on spiritual sunglasses. Some have sinned to the point no light can come in and some wear the glasses just because they think it looks cool.

God is not in all places. All places are in God at all times.

God is not in the universe She is the universe.

She created the universe from the only thing that She had available, Herself.

You and the most distant star from you in the universe both exist within the idea of God.

This is a difficult concept for most people to comprehend because they have been taught nonsense about God. Like the idea that God lives far away on a cloud called heaven. God is not a raindrop. Raindrops live in clouds Not God. This is foolishness.

Jesus told us that the kingdom of God is within us. This is true because each and every one of us exist as a part of God. We live and move within our loving source. There is no moment or possibility that we can ever be apart from her.

Forget the silly stories that you have been told about a distant God that lives in the clouds. Look around you. Everything that you see is God.

Love and blessings.
Don

The answer to all your questions is yes. He is omnipotent, in all people and all places at all times. However, when you speak of God dwelling in you, you are really speaking of your spirit being blessed and comforted by God more than a physical presence. However, yes. God is in everything since he is omnipresent.

Yes, God is everywhere and with everyone, even non-believers. Whether people choose to embrace his presence is up to them.

I've always been taught that hell is a place where God is not. Being without God is the ultimate punishment.

yes and no. He is everywhere except in sin. He is not in hell where sin is. He is not in the hearts of non-believers, but he watches over them and presents them many time with his spirit until it is accepted or completely rejected. He is in all his creations in the sence that he made them. Just as you made or will make you babies or write a paper or make a cake. There is a peice of you in al of it. Because God made you there is a peice of God in all you make. So to speak. Hope that helps. God Bless. "Peace be with you" (John14:27)

I have always thought that the thought of god (if there is one) being everywhere is creepy... I would not like to believe in something that is watching me all of the time... its like bigbrother.... that is actually why I never liked santa as a child... hahaha it creeped me out that he knew when I was sleeping and knew I was awake and all that jazz... it was disturbing.... I am inbetween christianity and wiccan.... you could say I am currently inbetween religions.... but If he is only one spirit I dont see how he could possibly be everywherre at once...

No. The Bible say that God has a throne in heaven. Being Almighty, he does not have to be everywhere to be aware of what's going on in the universe.

When you deal with fictional concepts that have no reality and are not verifiable, they quickly become absurd. To put it another way, if you cannot verify something then you can say anything about it and not be able to determine if it is correct or not. God cannot be verified.

That was all that the atheist was pointing out to you. You missed his point.
