Try your best. I ran my first 2 miles in like 20+ minutes. a few weeks later i was running mid 14's, a few months and i was running low 13's. They are not there to kick you out they are there to better you.

You enlisted in the US Army, but are incapable of running a mile in 8.3 minutes? Or are you just being sent to a boot camp, for other reasons? That is more of a measure of fitness than anything, for them to see how fit you are.
Rest assured that the most they can do to you there is humiliate you and scream expletives. The days in which officers could use corporal punishment on recalcitrant recruits are long gone. Look at it this way, however: if you can run a mile in under 8.3 minutes, boot camp would be a little easier, and not as arduous, when you first arrive. They will whip you into shape, no matter what. But the more fit you are when you arrive, the easier the process is.
Don't bother going out and trying to run today or tomorrow. Just get enough rest, and make sure you are full of energy before you ship out.

You will when they get done. When I was 17 I enlisted in the Army & could hardly do 5 pushups even though I had been a ALL STATE footballplayer. I weighted 236 lbs. & was5 11. At the end of 8 weeks basic I could do 25 pushups without a sweat. So dont worry you will Run the mile in8.3 or better when they get done. Have a good day at training. Rob I was Special Forces had 6 jumps..

You'll do it, it may not be nice, you may very well puke but you shall do it, if not the first time then the second and if not the second well then the third. In order to gain entry to the Army you must have passed a fitness test. You'll do it. I detest running, the most boring thing I can think of doing but even I can do a mile, 6 minutes 37 seconds mind you with out a backpack. One day it will be a mere memory.

You have tried it twice, why have you not been running every day since you inlisted, It sounds like you don't want it.
I will say they will send you anyway, and they will treat you like dirt and you will be hated by the other soldiers untill you make it fast enough, since slow running soldiers get the other soldiers extra work normally. you can bet on extra duties at boot camp till you get back into shape
