I have flown with my one year daughter 8 times now. We have even flown over sears. She is always content and happy. We try to get night flights so that it is during her sleep time. I always give her baby Tylenol as well. She has never had problems with ears or anything from flying. It also helps her sleep. As for drinks each country and airport is different. Leaving the UK last week I had to taste all of her milk and juice myself. Yet the two Canadian airports I went through didn't open the bag. You can just ask the flight crew for water and juice. They are usually really good when it comes to kids. Try getting to the airport a bit early. Find a quite corner to hide in. I find this gives her slow down time. All the people and interesting new things just stimulate her. I get to the gate a few minutes before boarding the plane. She flies like its nothing. GOOD LUCK. Remember! Pack your patience.

I fly with my six month old and 2 1/2 year old in a light aircraft all the time and they are fine, they usually fall asleep. The air pressure changes in our unpressurized aircraft are comparable to a pressurized plane and they do not have any problems. In fact they have more problems with their ears when we drive (we live in BC and there are a lot of mountains).
As for annoying other passengers, don't worry about it. They should be understanding of your situation. Take toys that are quiet but visually stimulating to entertain her, and play games like peekaboo and sing songs.
As far as I know childrens drinks are okay for carry on, especially if you can open them up.
Hope this helps.

Call the airline and see if they have tips.
One thing I can tell you is that children are MUCH more sensitive to the air pressure changes than adults. Her ears are probably going to hurt the whole way, so she's probably going to cry. Be ready to do your best hypnotic trick on her, whatever it is.
As far as the juice, if they won't let you take the juice, just take the cup. They'll have juices on the flight.

I flew with my 4 month old fron Virginia to Texas and he was great. At take off just make sure he/she is sucking on something like the sippy cup or pacifier so the ears dont pop while at take off and landing. I believe you can take baby drinks on as long as you drink it if they ask you to. I could be wrong. my boy loves those plastic links. you probably need to call the airlines and ask what you are able to bring for toys. as long as they allow it i would bring it. I personally could care less if it annoys people. they are on a form of public transportation, babies are going to be on there and babies make noise. If they want quiet they can go to first class.

First off, ask her doctor if it's a good idea for her to fly. Some doctors say a year old is OK, others prefer for the child to be slightly older. If you find out it is fine, make sure she has something to protect her ears from the air pressure.

Give her a bottle on the way up and the way down. Drinking will keep the pressure in her ears equalized so that they don't start hurting. Laughing can do the same thing if she isn't hungry.
