Why my flash memory drives doesnt recognise by my laptop?

I have two memory flash drives and they work great with my desktop computer.As soon as i plug them to my P III IBM T23 laptop it gives me an error.The error is unknown drive.That means it can not recognize any flash memory drive from USB ports

have you tried to ignore that and just go into my computer and click on it and also your computer might not be plug and play able

are you running the same operating system on the two computers?
