It's a trust issue. I demand an open relationship with my boyfriend -- and that means we both feel comfortable enough that we feel like we can discuss anything, even if we think it might be hurtful to the other person, so that we can sort out things before they really become an issue. But, he's not in a prison and he doesn't have to tell me or get permission before he does anything, goes anywhere or sees anyone unless it's going to conflict with something we already have planned together or it's going to affect me in some way. I can't dictate his life to him, and it's none of my business if he decides to go bowling today or chit chat on the phone with someone else. But I would hope that he trusts me enough to not be judgmental to tell me about stuff on his own. Because the problem is, if he doesn't trust me, then I can't trust him. So I have to take the first step and not be paranoid or our relationship ultimately will be doomed.

Yeah, because they not only want to know it all, they also want the entire play-by-play, and when they hear the truth, they still don't believe it. Men will always be in catch-22 situations when they have a "girlfriend"

...maybe the females wouldn't want to know if they hadn't been bombarded with secrets, half truths and lies in the name of honesty and the right thing to do. Oh yeah, don't forget the one about I really didn't think it mattered.

...maybe they want to know because they just plain give a damn and want to feel that they hold some value in the relationship, be it one of friendship or dating.

I don't know if they hate it as much is they dislike it when u want to know every little detail of what they're doing when your not together that day. It may make them feel as if ur smothering him, it's one thing to be conceern or intrested in how his day went, did he have fun with his friends or family. But to want to know every little bitty detail can be a bit annoying.

I'm not even a guy, but I'll say yes. They also hate telling women things because so many women gossip with their friends about it. Prove yourself trustworthy and maybe he will open up more.

Really Depends. My wife doesn't need to know that I had to get more TP when I was in the bathroom, now does she?

However I tell her everything I believe is signifigant enough to tell her, and she doesn't try to pry anything else out of me. It's all a matter of trust.

only if they've got something to hide. i love it 'cos it shows love & gives me a chance to demonstrate my openness.
all that's fine so long as you're willing 2 return the favour.

some people want a fresh start or are still hurting from the past, i think you have to respect that too

If you're desiring to know what he's doing every single minute of every single day, then yes. Men (and women) chafe under that sort of scrutiny. We all want our alone time!

You women are beyond annoying with the amount of time you talk and the details that you expect. Guys don't talk a lot. Deal with it. You blab to each other all day. Then you're on the phone, then you're on the cell phone. Then you want to talk to us about all the crap you just talked to everybody else about. It is FRIGGING ANNOYING. Shut up Already!!!
