If she has taking good care her pups for four days now she will not abandon them but will be very protective. Might be best to let her be with the pups until they are a little older. The mom doesn't need extra stress. If the father has been present through the birthing he shouldn't be a problem. Just keep an eye on him.

Some moms will allow other dogs to be around their pups, but some don't. If you want to let the dad around them, just do it gradually and monitor them. Some male dogs will try to kill puppies, so be very careful when allowing them to visit.
We had a Miniature Pinscher come in our clinic one time because a mom Labrador attacked him when he sniffed her pups. The poor dog ended up having a broken jaw that had to be wired together, all because he was curious. I'm not saying that will happen to your dog, I'm just saying that it happens.
Good luck to you, your dogs, and your pups!! I bet your pups are adorable right now!!!

I try to keep other dogs from the pups for at least 2 weeks, even the father. It is okay if the pups are in a crate and the father is outside the crate where he can sniff them, see them, take pride in his progeny.

Good grief - no!! Do not let any dogs anywhere near the room the puppies are in. You would cause untold stress to the mother not to mention have vet bills to repair the damage to the dogs she attacked. Why can't people do any research before breeding their dogs???

it will be ok for the male dog to look at them and be around them, thats if the mother dog is ok with it and she will let you and him know if she is ok with it as she will be calm if she is ok and if not she will growl and snap and that is normal for her to be protective of them,,
hope this helps and good luck with your new puppies
P.S. Where are you from? the reason im asking is cause my daughter is really wanting a poodle and was wondering if you already have them sold please let me know at hunterdog_34@yahoo.com Thank you
