Fleas particularly dislike the flavor of garlic and yeast (nutritional or brewer's yeast). Mixing garlic and yeast with your pet's food can render their blood unpalatable to fleas.
However, the best thing I have found is a bath with Murphy's Oil Soap. Not diluted. Just use like shampoo...you don't even have to wait...just lather and rinse. It kills fleas on contact and repells them. I have been completely flea free for 5 years now. Its great.
Advantage and Front line are good products...just a little expensive. But they do work.

Yes but you need to use it in powder form only. Fresh garlic is bitter and strong and will not work Sprinkle just an 1/8 teaspoon on your dog's food each time you feed your dog. In about say 4 to 5 days it will take affect. What garlic powder does is makes the dog's skin taste horrible to a flea. The flea will not stay on the dog no where. It cannot survive. Nor will the flea stay any where close to the dog so if your dog is an outside dog, it will take a little while longer depending on how bad they are. You can also use baby powder all over your dog and surrounding areas as fleas cannot breathe. The powder makes the fleas suffocate. So use the powder and always every day use the garlic

In Australia we have a brand of dog food that incorporates garlic into their food for the dogs. I don't know if it actually worked but I will try anything if it helps just a little bit to get rid of fleas.

If you have a dog with fleas, a vet once told me that giving the dog Brewer's Yeast tablets will help rid the dog of the problem. I tried it and it worked.

You would actually feed them garlic, but I do doubt that it will get rid of the fleas. What you are best using is ADVANTAGE.You can by it from pet stores or the vet. It's an application that you put directly onto the skin. You can be gaurenteed you will get rid of them.
