then why are the insurgents always putting Iraqi civilians in their targets, instead of just going after the troops like any "freedom fighter" would be doing?

No, it's not difficult to understand. But if these are supposed to be the freedom fighters, liberating their country from another military, then why are they intentionally killing their own citizens? People who have nothing to do with US troops being there?

"Maybe the insurgents think the civilians that they're killing are helping the Americans."

Really? That many citizens are helping US troops? Sounds like a lot of people WANT troops to be there....

Bush has nothing to do with it. He's just the head puppet.

The problem in Iraq is that the Iraqi government have not stepped up to the plate. It has been a year since we gave them a democracy (and they embraced it a year ago). Right or wrong for going into Iraq that is where they were at.

The Iraqi Police specifically have not stepped up to do anything about the problems. The US government cannot be the police.

The Media is also a BIG problem. Every time they have a bombing, the media races to cover it. It's like when the media refuses to show the "streaker" at the ball park because they don't want to encourage it. They need to do the same in Iraq.

They need to stop encouraging it.

How can you be here asking a question about something you obviously know nothing about? Moreover, it seems that you are interested in the facts because anyone with any knowledge of the situation in Iraq would know how ridiculous your question is. In fact, you may be the only American who knows less that Bush about the situation.

First, the Iraqi’s want us out. 60% of Iraqis approve of attacks on Americans:

And new polls by the State Department and independent researchers show that an even greater number want the US to leave immediately:

More to your bogus question, you’ve failed to acknowledge the civil war which we all knew would come with the removal of Saddam form power.

You probably have no idea of the carnage that lies ahead when the Kurds are exterminated – do you? You probably have no clue concerning Syrian and Turkish interests in this – do you?

I have always agreed with George H.W. Bush and Colin Powell , that invading Iraq was a stupid idea doomed to failure.

What the neocons and administration have not done and, in fact, cannot do, is provide any evidence suggesting that their plan had any chance of success. This mess is Bush’s fault as well as those stupid enough (Rep and Dem) who ever supported this loser at all.

Iraq is lost, you may as well start getting used to the idea.

The insurgents go after thier own because they are all cowards. Our troops are brave fearless men and the insurgents are no match for them. I lived and worked in the Middle East for 14 years and most of the natives there are brave only when they can hit you from behind or you are outnumbered. They have a lot of mouth but not much backbone.

It's quite natural actually... The French did that too during the second world war, and after the war was over they executed many of the people who supported Hitlers Vichy government. The insurgents consider any Iraqi who supports the US invasion a traitor.

The U.S. still has the death penalty for treason...

Maybe the insurgents find a way to blame it on U.S. troops. Think about it. Like, they won't stop killing civilians unless our troops go home.
