Hi. Maybe you'd like to try one that I made up. It was very popular among my office co-workers:
Whole almonds (unsalted-with the dark skin on)
Peanuts (lightly salted--no shells)
Raisins
Dried Cranberries
Dried Blueberries
Dried Apricots
*Cashews (raw and unsalted)
Sunflower Seeds (raw, unsalted)
*Macadamia Nuts (unsalted)
Pecans (unsalted)
Mix all together in a ziploc type plastic bag and enjoy! You can store this is glass jars or steel "cookie jar" type tins.
You can also add some chunks of dark chocolate or some chocolate chips. Butterscotch chips are good, too.
Use your imagination!
And, yes, *Cashews and *Macadamia nuts are a tad expensive, but who deserves a treat more than you?
Plus, you will be eating healthy because nuts are VERY good for you according to latest research. You'll notice that all of the nuts, except the peanuts, are unsalted.
Hope you enjoy this mixture.

This sounds like a trip to WalMart's candy section....grab a bag of m&m's (plain), big box of rasins, can of salty peanuts, bag of mini chocolate pieces, bag of mixed dried fruit, and dump everything in a big bowl. Using a wooden spoon, stir everything together till mixed. Plastic food containers come in very handy at this point. Take with you what you need.....keep the rest in container in a cool dry place. (not the refrigerator).

TRAIL MIX
Heat over low flame 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup honey Mix in a large bowl:
6 cups oatmeal (not the quick stuff)
2 cups bran flakes
4 tablespoons whole wheat flour
1/2 cup walnuts
1/4 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/2 unsweetened coconut
Mix peanut butter mixture into dry ingredients - coating evenly.
Moisten with 1/2 cup warm water. Spread evenly on a cookie sheet and bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Watch the edges since they burn easily. I rotate the pans and turn the granola after 15 minutes. After taking the granola out of the oven, turn it over again and let it cool on the pan. Stir in more raisins if you wish.
Keeps in the pantry for weeks.
The Original Munch Mix
4 cups POST SPOON SIZE Shredded Wheat Cereal
2 cups popped popcorn
1 cup small pretzels
1 cup PLANTERS Mixed Nuts
1 env. GOOD SEASONS Italian Salad Dressing & Recipe Mix
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine, melted
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
PREHEAT oven to 300°F. Toss cereal with popcorn, pretzels and nuts in 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Sprinkle evenly with salad dressing mix.
MIX butter, Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder. Drizzle evenly over cereal mixture; toss to coat.
BAKE 30 to 35 min. or until lightly toasted, stirring after 15 min. Cool. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature.

I make chex mix (cool it), and then add dried fruits, M&Ms and whatever else I like....chocolate chips are a must. Chocolate covered raisins. However keep in mind that Chocolate melts so if heat is an issue, might reconsider putting chocoloate in your trail mix.

Not off the top of my head, sorry...
If you have a "Wal-Mart" - and you like 'spicy' - I cannot get enough of:
"Sam's Choice Cajun Trail Mix"!
(peanuts, sesame-stix, almonds, and corn-nuts - with a salt and cayenne pepper seasoning)

Fuzzie has my old favorite. Salted peanuts, raisins, and M&M's. Not particularly healthy but go for burning energy.
We called it 'Gorp'.
