The term "or" in your question forces a grouping of the term "volunteer soldiers" into categories of "mercenary" or "deliberately evil and have blood lust".

It doesn't allow for the possibility that some volunteer soldiers are not evil or mercenaries. It also doesn't allow the possibility that some conscripted troops are evil.

Any reasonable introspection will uncover these other possibilities.

Regardless of individual motives, I am afraid the war initiated by the United States against the regime of the Ba'ath party and Saddam Hussein was for undisclosed reasons.

Perhaps the game-plan is to screw up the middle-east oil business and cut off Venuzeulan oil with the objective of inflating world oil prices?

When you have an oil man in the White House who is the son of an oil man who came from Texas by way of Connecticut (and is an ex-Director of Central Intelligence), you have to ponder such questions. :)

If you are so ashamed and horrified by the actions of Volunteer soldiers move to a isolated wooded area, live in a structure built with your own hands stark naked while eating only what you can hunt or gather because everything you have or use in the modern world is available to you because some poor bastard volunteered and died or killed so you can have them. There is moral and ethical questions about war but as a member of the society you can go and fight or you can argue against the War and those who started it. The soldiers don't start the war they just answer the call to the duty every member of the society is obliged to respond to in one of the two above ways.Volunteers have died so that you can sit on your moral high point and **** on everyone else. You don't like the war argue against it, demonstrate against them who started it but don't defame those who fight it.

The true evil men are people who insult and demean those who are brave enough to voluntarily risk their lives for their country.

I think that you do not know the definition of the word, "mercenary." A mercenary is a soldier who fights for no other reason besides the money he is being paid. If you looked at the pay America's soldiers receive, it is not a job anyone would do for money alone.

You should be grateful that there are brave men willing to endure all sort of hardships, and make any sacrifice necessary so chaps like you can sit at your computer in comfort, and ponder imbecilic questions like that.

I suggest you return to Earth from cuckoo-cloud land, or whever you get such foolish ideas.

Your question leaves no room for a correct answer. It's a loaded question. Either it's one or the other. maybe you should rethink your position. Like how millions of people have died to give you the FREEDOM that you have to express your views. But no, because you have that right, nobody can arrest you. But I can guarentee you, if you went to another country and tried to say something about their government, well, I'll just let your imagination do the thinking for you.

How dare you. These " volunteers" are there so you have the freedom to run you mouth off with out being shot. They volunteer to keep this country safe. Unlike people of your mindset they are willing to die so you can live. They are the REAL Americans.God bless the men & women of our glorious military//

Gosh...21 years in, and I never realized I was deliberately evil and had blood lust.

I'd better warn the neighbors.

Neither. We do what the government that YOU elected tell us to do. Whether we personally agree with it or not does not matter. We support and defend the constitution in a manner that is determined by the president. Even if he might be a complete idiot that wants nothing but oil money.
