You can't really say that dating before 17 or 16 or 15 or whatever is wrong or right. It aslo depends on the person. I mean, my brother is 12. he's been "dating" since he was like 9 or something like that. Now I don't think that it's right for such young kids to be dating the way they really are now... But in all honesty kids are growing up a lot faster than tey were when I was growing up and that was only like 8 years ago!

Now having girfriends when i did, helped me to become who i am today. Some of my realtionships have been more serious than others (As I think everyone can say) But I still learned from my mistakes.

And I learned from what other people had to offer to me too...

I started dating when I was fourteen. And like I said, it's how I came to be who I am today.

So the question comes down to what is the right age for someone to start dating? There is no right age... It depends on many factors. Such as maturity level , and some of the goals and ideals of the individual at that time. It would also depend on some of the intents of the participating individuals as well... (What one may want the other may not.)

The only other thing to worry about is the whole intimacy issue. And that's where it gets all sticky and scary and all of that. when dating, there are certain pressures and feelings that younger people don't quite understand. (Like the difference between love and lust.) But there's really only one way that you can truly learn, and that's through experience...

So is it wrong for a younger person to date. No not necessicarily.
and that's what I think.

I wasn't allowed to date until I was 16. I didn't date, but I did have boyfriends from school. Pretty much in name only. My parents didn't know. I always thought it was so lame and unfair that they would not allow me to date. I didn't have my first real french kiss until I was 17, and graduated a virgin. I was so ready to be on my own and prove I was grown, I had a crazy summer after graduation and ended up pregant a month after I lost my virginity using protection. My point is it's not the deadline, it's the parental monitering. If they date before 16 they should be study dates or chaperoned movie dates. There should be reasonable curfews, and you should discuss your beliefs and desires for how you would like your child to behave. But, you can't tell them. After 13 they will do pretty much what they want, sometimes the opposite of what they're supposed to just to spite you. Keep lines of communication open and your kids will make smart decisions so as not to let you down.

I think the option of dating should be there, but I do agree that more teenagers should focus on other priorities. That's what I'm doing, and I feel damned good about it.

Absolutes never work. Dating before 17 is an excellent idea - you learn many valuable lessons about what you like, what you don't, and how to get over a breakup/loss.

Sex before 18 is defininately a bad idea.

That is retarded
I am 13 and i have had 3 boyfriends, dating is wicked fun and removes school and work stress. And also if you are dating a guy from school it gives you a reason to go everyday.

I agree completely. I started dating way too young and I wonder how my life would have turned out if I stayed away from boys and concentrated on my schoolwork.

Disagree. Whatever the legal driving age is in the area should be a proper age. After all, what are two kids gonna do if they don't have a ride?
