Oh, for Chrysler's sake!! No, you are being smart to avoid a hernia, lifting your "big boned" Wonderdog around!! I bet the vet has to go get his truss when he sees that pooch waddle up. I can hear him now, "Hey! Get out the hoist and the Chick Flick Cherry POlish, STAT! Sabby is flubbering up to the front door!"

I've handled aggressive dogs, broken up multi-dog fights, and trimming my dogs' nails has always terrified me! So if it's silly, join the club. I'm scared of cutting too close and the dogs, of course, pick up on my feelings, so they either pull paw back or otherwise contribute to my tension, and so it goes. If you can afford it, it's not silly to get a cool, calm, pro do it. Vets hate to, but any time you take dog to vet for any reason, they'll do nail clip with other procedures.

Well I don't think you are being silly. The only way to cut my dogs nails is to have it done by the Vet, Rottweilers are known for not liking anyone to mess with their feet. Good Luck and Regards KG

Hate to be the barrier of bad news,,, but if your Lab does in fact weigh 110 pounds it is either way to fat or exceeds the size in the breed standard by a large margin.
But a lot of people let a groomer clip their dogs claws instead of trying to do it themselves

If you've got the money for it, I guess not... just because *I* think its silly doesn't mean it is...
