Not "Sam Hayne".

There's a number of variations, typically something near "sow-win" or "sow-ween." I've even heard it closer to "sov-ven" a few times, but the first two are the most common.

It all comes down to it being a Gaelic word, and, in Gaelic, "mh" comes out with a "w" sound.

many people pronounce it many different ways..
the way that it is spelled i think is the only way that i have not seen it pronounced.

i say

Sow-in
or Saween.

well I admit, I used to be one of those who said it Sam - hane until I was corrected myself :) Now I say it Sow-En :)

its a matter of dialect i think. some pronounce it sowen, others sa-wain.....
