Yes it is, but I would suggest before you drive down to Mexico, purchase some Mexican auto - insurance. American Auto - insurance is not valid in Mexico. If you are involved in an accident in Mexico, and you don't have insurance you can be held in jail until somebody comes to the jail where you are and pays cash for the damages, whether or not you were at fault.

Most certainly, the problem with driving in Mexico is not your American licence but your insurance, driving into Mexico there are many "shops" selling you insurance policies, a little like Wedding stops on the drive into Vegas. You may drive legally in Mexico on an American licence for 12 months before having to take a Mexican test gaining you a Mexican driving licence.

Nope, To Drive in Mexico you have to purcharse insurance go though a lot of paper work to insure that the car is not stolen. Personally driver licenses should be your passport, social security card all in one.

ya, u can drive down there under a us license, if your visiting. my sister and her friends used to drive down to rocky point all the time.
