Have no fear. Your ideal crock pot is near. I own a "SMART-POT"
manufactured by " Rival ". It has a high and low setting , in each setting you have two choices. On high you can have the pot cook for 4 hours or 6 hours. On low you can have the pot cook for 8 hours or 10 hours. No matter what setting you choose , When the cooking time has elasped , the pot switches to warm . This pot is great. I have had long unexpected crazy days where I come home to a moist perfectly cooked meal. ENJOY !

Most crock pots are pretty much the same. The most important thing to remember is that it NEVER takes as long as what the recipe says. 6 hours is usually good. I would buy a crock pot that allows you to automatically turn off after a set amount of time. Just get a crock pot with a timer

I seem to recall there is a mini-crockpot. I saw one at Bed Bath and Beyond or maybe it was Cost Plus when I still lived in California. Give that a whirl.

I prefer the Rival or the actual CrockPot brand. Don't get one that's too small, you may regret it later. Another good idea is to buy one that has a removable liner. It makes cleaning much easier!

Rival has good crockpots. It has a warm. low and high setting. The one I have is *maybe* a 4 qt one. It came with a smaller dip crock.

I suggest one that is made from ceramic. Plastic can crack from the heat.
