The churches can only give out food and clothes to the people they know need it the most. The most needy usually have no idea how to access the needed items. This is a sad fact of our human condition. It's important for those of us who know where the resources are to connect the people with the resources.

Churches in our area help the poor. Before school started , churches gave out back packs full of school supplies, to all the neighbor children, plus all their own members. During the Holidays they take baskets and presents over to many households. Turkeys at Thanksgiving time Many of our Food pantry's are supplied by churches. St. Vincents, give free food daily and clothes if needed. The Salvation Army gives daily. Olivet Presbyterian gives daily. All the churches in our area help the poor and hungry. Some do, some don't and some REQUIRE that you attend their services to get the donations. Which they can do as long as they are not dispensing goods dispensed by the federal, state or local government, then they cannot and should not require recipients to attend their services.

Peace.
