Congratulations. I went to my first doctors appt when I was 7 weeks. This is my 4th baby. Just dont take any advil. If you get a headache or anything use Regular Tylenol. You can also use Extra strength if you need too. Dont use really harsh cleaners when cleaning. Cut out your junk food, cut down the caffeine if you drink coke or coffee. Caffeine is okay, but small amounts. Start taking some prenatal vitamins right away. Some feeds you should avoid are hot dogs, deli meats or soft cheeses. These can cause Listeria. Any other questions you might have just go to the http://www.babycenter.com. They have lots of info on anything you want to know about. Good Luck!

Drink lots of water if you do not already - you need to fill the baby's swimming pool! Don't drink alcohol. Start taking pre-natal vitamins with FOLIC ACID. Go out and get a *GOOD* pregnancy book. DO NOT get What to Expect When you are Expecting....cheesy and dumbed down book. I would recommend THE PREGNANCY BOOK by Dr William Sears and Martha Sears. You could also get YOUR PREGNANCY WEEK BY WEEK By Glade B. Curtis. These are both good resources. You should also start researching whether or not to breast feed. Contact your local La Leche League chapter or talk to mother's who have similar situation as you to help you make this decision, as well as your significant other. Breast is Best, even if it is only for a short time.
Relax and enjoy the ride! Good luck!

Congratulations!!! Is this your first child? If yes, enjoy it.. Pregnancy is a beautiful feeling. I am also pregnant I am about 34 weeks 8 mth's and this is my fourth child. It is always exciting to have a baby. It does not matter if it's your first or your 4th... It feels the same the only difference is you already know what to expect during delivery... Good Luck to you, eat healthy, get enough rest and always go to your doctors appointment....

Dont be shocked if they dont want to even SEE you till 5 months.... I kid you not. This may happen. Take a prenatal vitamin... get rest and liguids, proper diet and exercise... lay off the stress, no caffiene, no drugs or alcohol... the only drugs a preggers woman can take is Purple Dimetapp cold medicince and Tylenol (tm)... lay off the soda.... they havent said artificial sweeteners are off limits but I wouldnt touch em with a ten foot pole. NO SECOND HAND SMOKE.... smokers go outside... NO CAT POOP..... i m serious... cat poop or littler is not to be touched by preggers women... just get rid of the cat... that would be best..... Breastfeed for one year then go straight to sippy cup. Your child will never need a bottle. Baby walkers are bad. Kids need to learn eye hand coordination by CRAWLING... dont spank your kids... make them have respect for you.. not fear fear does NOT equal respect... and for DAD... The best thing you can do as a parent is to show your child taht you respect his or her mother. Then your son or daughter will grow up seeing that a man should be kind and respectful.. if you treat your wife cruelly, and your teenage daughter comes home with a black eye one day.. youll know YOU are the one that put it there.
ALSO.. get a journal... write in it... now is not too soon. Write down how you feel about becoming a mommy and what the baby does and what the baby says.... this is th eone biggest regret of motherhood that I waited too long to start doing this.

1. Quit smoking if you smoke, and limit alchohol consumption.
2. Start a prenatal vitamin if you haven't already.
3. Drink at least 3 glasses of milk a day
4. Eat as much fresh fruits, veggies and lean meats as possible. Avoid tuna or fish containing mercury.
5. Get as much rest as possible.

well if you smoke or drink then stop...you will usually not be seen by a OB/GYN intill your 8-9 weeks and you will have alot of things done on that first apointment...pee test, blood test-work, doppler(to hear the heartbeat), you will get your EED, some docs do a ultrasound the first visit just to check things out, then theres also TONS of paperwork! Congrats..hopefully next month for me (got disapointed this month :( )

Start taking pre-natal vitamins like Materna, one every day. Modify your diet to reduce junk food and eliminate high-risk foods like deli meats, soft cheese (brie, feta, camembert), and anything containing raw eggs (egg nog, ceasar salad dressing). Avoid herbal teas and caffiene. Limit servings of fish to once a week.
