so theres this guy that i'm technically just friends with but i think theres potential for something more. the thing is recently he invited me out to dinner and a movie and he paid for everything. i offered to pay for mine, because usually we each just pay for our own but he insisted on picking up the tab.
could that be considered a date even if it wasn't specified as one? does the fact that he insisted on paying mean anything at all? in general what does it mean when a guy pays?

He's basically trying to get U to the next level. He didn't want to freak U out by showing the obvious. But I think he's very sweet, taking things slow and easy.

It could just mean that he was being nice and picked up the tab. Or maybe it was his way of showing you that he wants the relationship to move along more than just friendship. In either case, this is 2006 and woman have become more aggressive than they were back in the day. If you want the relationship to progress, I suggest you take the lead.

Any decent guy will pay for a night on the town with a nice lady. I would consider it a date anytime i go out with a lady and pay the tab. I would consider it a date even if the lady pays.

well..
i dont really believe in "when you go on the date, the guy pays for everything"

but..some guys will do that..pay for the dates or sometimes he just feels like treating you. ive had many guy friends who offered or even just payed for me and beated me to taking out my wallet. its just the nice gesture..but then...the conversation..if you feel like your conversations were kinda different like a little more flirty...maybe he is taking you on a date..you should just talk to him about it before you get all confused

1. He trying to impress you so good.

2. He could be a gentleman and think that girls shouldn't pay for anything.

Basically it's good, or can mean diddly squat.

It means you are very precious to him

It means that he cares about you and wants to be close to you. I think he paid because he just wants you to know that you are special to him.

Now what kind of special is unknown! Enjoy the discovery!

Lucky you, be gracious, accept it and say thank you. There are men who would like to be a gentleman while he is out with a lady he likes. Don't second guess him, just be you and let him know that you enjoy his company.

In my opinion either:

A. He just came into some money ( which he may or may not have been willing to share in conversation).

B. He wants to take your relationship up a notch where he wants to feel like a provider.

Roll with it if you want.

It means that he felt comfortable paying. For another interpretation look to communication. Ask him!! Peace.
