Nooooo, illegal = crime.
The fact that people now seem to think that little crimes are OK is a sad commentary on how low 21st Century America has sunk.

They are criminals. You cannot just decide to break another countries laws and think it is okay. Once you step over that line you become a criminal. People state they are just trying to survive. Well a homeless man stealing food is just try to survive also.
I don't understand why people say they do jobs most won't. That might be the cast in large farm areas, but here on the east coast they are putting contractors out of work. The American contractors playing by the rules are hurt. An illegal doesn't pay the state or local government for a business license, nor do they pay taxes on the money they earn. They send it home. SO how does that help the community they are in? Also, they use the local Hospital as their health care system and don't pay. Hospitals are shutting down and moving away. That's not fair to the people who need that hospital and are playing by the rules.
You can't just look at one angle on this issue. Maybe we do need to update the immigration laws, but they can't just decide to ignore it.

You had better do some research before you put this HS on here. If an immigrant is here without authorization, he is an illegal immigrant. This means he has broken the law and is doing so as long as he is here illegally. Anyone that breaks the laws is a criminal. Your mistake, you are trying to compare the crime of illegal immigration to something like speeding.

Entering the country without going through proper immigration and customs control is against the law. Breaking the law makes one a criminal. That is why we call them criminals.
Assault is also less serious than murder, yet is still considered a crime. And no, I don't think it is an exaggeration.
At such point that there is no income tax or FICA, and all public health care is financed through a sales tax, then I think illegal aliens will be less of an issue. But as long as my money is being TAKEN AWAY from me without any choice to finance the health care of others, then I say we must deport all illegal aliens.

The immigrants committed a crime by coming into this country, thus, they are criminals. Crime definitely does not indicate any particular severity. A felony is a serious crime, a misdemeanor is a less serious crime. Anybody who commits any of these is a criminal.

I suppose that just by being in this country illegally makes them a criminal. It does sound a bit exaggerated, but that is how things work.

hello??? Key word, illegal. A crime is a crime regardless. A poor starving kid steals an apple from a store because he is hungry, do u think a judge won't send him to juvie because he was hungry???? Yeah right. The law is the law. I know for a fact that they are here to support their families and make a better way of life, BUT they can become citizens and do it the right way. There are so many that are here legally, so why can't they become legal? My uncle in-law is legal, his entire family is legal, my friends and my co-workers are all legal. So if they can do it, anybody can. I know it's hard but I bet it's even harder trying to evade the police, and people taking advantage of you because you're illegal.

Crime: an act or the commission of an act that is forbidden or the omission of a duty that is commanded by a public law and that makes the offender liable to punishment by that law
Criminal: one who has committed a crime
Seems obvious if an ILLEGAL alien has broken a law then the shoe fits.
The debate should be "What punishment is just?".

Why does the government declare coming into this country to better your life, or the life of your family illegal? Why do we "insist" on calling these people that want to work hard and take jobs that we "americans" are too good to take? What is the crime in that? Yes, I have a problem with anyone that is too lazy to get out there and work and then want to mooch off the government. How many americans do we have that have been on welfare for 20-25 years? Come on... THAT should be a crime!!!

Well they seem to fit the definition. Usually a criminal is someone who is in violation of breaching a law that is higher than a misdemeanor. Though I am not an expert on jurisprudence, I do believe that disobeying immigration laws constitutes something far graver than a misdemeanor; hence by definition they are criminals.

I will type slow so you can understand this. Illegal = Forbidden by law, against the rules, Unlawful. They are not immigrants either, so don't lump them in with the people that built this country to its current greatness. They are Illegal Aliens. If you have a dictionary and know how to use one, you can see for yourself how your thinking is totally flawed.
