Try explaining to him that not only can other people smell it and will make fun of him but that it's unhealthy and can be uncomfortable because of the rash it causes.

My youngest took a long time with this. He didnt like getting poop on his fingers. I finally bought wipes and let him wipe with those and showed him how to wipe and throw in the garbage, then get another wipe. He now uses toilet paper but he uses 1/2 a roll at a time-and im not kidding.

I think it's the age with boys my son was the same way finally he started wiping better we just got onto him and would make him throw his underwear away if they had poop stains and told him ppl would make fun of him and also i told him how he could get sick from not wiping and he was keeping germs on him.

Let his Butt get sore a few time's and eventually he will learn to wipe himself. Either that or Live with a Sore Butt! seems mean but, soon he will learn!

One way is to buy him his own container of "Wipies" and let him feel in charge of his hygiene. Go into the bathroom for the first few times to make sure he feels comfortable with it. It is never a good idea to embarrass your child or make him feel inadequate. He is relying on you to teach him. Try to be patient but not overbearing. And always praise him for a good job. He will catch on quicker than you think.

my son is also 7, and he does do his own wiping, but somtimes he has his lil race tracks showing. i have told him that he needs to wipe better so much that i had to take it further. i have threatened to take his race tracked undies outside and hang them for all his friends to see. of course i would never do it, but with it being a week later, i havn't seen any race ways going on.

Go to the net and print out the consequences of bad hygiene and how disease and germs start to fester with bad hygiene practices. Pics are great way to get your point across.

why doesnt he wipe? is it cause you still do it or he doesnt do it at all. if you are still wiping it then you have to stop. he will do it sooner or later. demand he do it and sit and watch and wait till he does until he is allowed off the toilet.
