Most people who kill themselves are mentally unbalanced at the time of the suicide. Mental illness is a disease. I don't think they would be denied Heaven because they died as a result of a disease. But I sure wouldn't want to test it.

Wow! Nothing like a little lite question on a brisk sunday evening.
Very tough one. I don't know what would happen. I think that it could be something that is up in the air. If they were saved and stumbled into this sin (if you could call it stumbling), then I guess they would be saved. Now, if someone commits suicide, I have to wonder if they were soundly saved in the first place (hear my heart here). When you repent and put your trust in the savior, you are made a new creation with new desires. You will struggle with sin and hate it. So, the question is... would a new creation want to commit suicide?
Like I said, very tough question and I don't think there is any way to know for sure. Only God knows. This is why it is so important for us to make sure that the Gospel (the Good News) is understood by everyone. So we don't have to agonize over someone's salvation like this.
Make sure they are SOUNDLY saved!

The person who commits suicide is loved just as much as anyone. I believe we all go to heaven. The bible is full of myths that people so easily get hung up on and they replace faith in a person with faith in a religious formula that may or may not include works. Some will say God has mercy on the person who committed suicide but had submitted to the church's formula of ideas, i.e. they accepted Jesus Christ as their personal lord and savior. Others will say they go to hell, regardless. Either way, they are basing their ideas in nothing but theory and the literal interpretation of biblical myth.

Some believe that suicide is the "unpardonable sin" in Scripture, but closer reading seems to suggest that it is refusing to surrender your will to God's that is "unpardonable." Others believe suicide demonstrates the ultimate lack of faith in God and takes for self something that should be left only to God and so shows the person doesn't really believe.
I know this. God is perfect in his love and compassion and mercy. God judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart, and God knows when a person commits suicide whether that person was rejecting God or demonstrating a lack of faith or simply suffering, depressed, and behaving unwisely in the moment. We can trust those who have committed suicide to just and loving treatment from God who knows and sees all.

There is no biblical support for the "doctrine" suicide automatically sending someone to hell.
Christ did not die so that someone who hasn't gone to confession will simply be left out, right? Does it make any sense to say that someone who did any number of sins, yet are still a Christian, and then died in a horrible car accident is sent to hell? Of course not.

I think it's debatable. Some say you go straight to hell, since your last act is murder. However, to want to murder yourself, you are insane by practically any definition, or under extreme suffering . If you're insane, you're innocent by reason if insanity. I think God takes all these factors into account. For example, if you overdose while doing drugs for thrills and accidentally commit suicide, I think you're more likely to end up in hell than if you commit suicide due to extreme depression or mental anguish. Everyone has a limit to how much suffering they can take, and God, who made us, knows this.

I've never seen it mentioned in the bible, except for Judas, and his going to hell doesn't seem to have much to do with the suicide part.

Suicide is a sin but is not the unforgivable sin. Even a suicide can ask for forgiveness before they enter the spiritual world. Admittedly it would have to be quick but that is only something they and Jesus would know.

in the Catholic church it's been taught that a preson that committs suicide is disturbed and can not really be held fully accountable for their actions.
since obvisiously people who are not catholic see fit to slander the Church, allow this edit....
CAtechism 2283:
"We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persns who have taken their own lives. by ways know to Him alone, God can provide the opportunityfor salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives."

No they do not go to hell IF they have been Born-Again.
Not getting Saved (Believing Who Jesus Said HE Was) is the only thing that will send you to hell.
If you do not Believe Who Jesus said HE was, you will bust Hell wide open.
Jesus is the Only Way.
