Actually, I would argue that the various Protestant versions of the Bible represent the original version better than the current Catholic version.
Why? Because after the Protestant Reformation took place, the Catholics chose to include the Apocrypha during the Council of Trent in 1545, even though the early editors of the original Bible such as St. Jerome were highly suspicious of the Apocrypha's authenticity. So the Catholic Bible has actually been substantially revised in content since the Protestants broke away from the church.

Let's see. The Protestant Reformation came about as a result of Martin Luther's dispute with the Catholic Church, which already existed at the time. Since Catholicism was in business centuries before the Protestants, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that their Bible was first.

From a Jewish point of view, the question is nonsensical.
That is because the only Jewish Bible is the original one which was written in Hebrew. Thus, any "other bible" is just a translation or a derivative of a translation. Thus, what does it matter which translation came first?
Secondly, your question implies that there is a specific bible for Protestants and another one for Catholics. In the Protestant world, there are numerous sects and many use their own "brand" of the Bible. So, which Bibles are you comparing anyways?
So, to actually answer your question, since Cathlosism predates Protestism (sp?), therefore its bible (rather Bible translation) predates as well.

The Catholic, because Catholicism came before Protestantism. Actually, the "Protestant" Bible developed partly as a result of the invention of the printing press, which led to people wanting to own a copy of the Bible (which wasn't possible before), and then people wanting a shorter version with the less essential books left out.

Parts of the bible came from different books extant. The Pentateuch is basically Catholic, but much of it has grounds in other books. Read what you can from our website. It has been thoroughly investigated, and is as accurate as it can be made.
You should know that there are many man made deliberate 'mistakes' in the Catholic bible because of the trinity problem. And there are several books that others agree shouldn't have been included. (They do not have the thread of the other books.) Please enjoy our website, I think you as an intelligent person and a seeker, will enjoy it.

My answer would be the Catholic bible. So? Does that in some way make it better then the Protestant bible? I've been reading your questions tonight and they all seem to be so defensive. You seem to have a very large chip on your shoulder. Not attractive for a Christian.
