I have two TiVos; one set to broadcast on channel 3; and the other set to broadcast on channel 4. How can I combine these two signals, so that I have one coax plugged into my TV; allowing the TV to choose which TiVo to watch by choosing channel 3 or 4?

Peachy is actually the "bozo" a splitter takes a coax run and creates two. If you're trying to converge two coax runs into a single coax out you need a DIPLEXER looks exactly like a splitter but takes two inputs and creates one. Should be located need the sat. tv stuff in your local Best Buy or electronics store. Peachy, please don't insult people if you're wrong as well.

Actually that's easy. The previous two bozos obviously have had no antenna/cable system training. All you need is a two set 75 ohm coaxial coupler (aka splitter). Run a short piece of coax from TiVo 1 to output A and the other to output B of the coupler. Then connect your TV to the input of the coupler. Simple. The coupler will work just as well at combining signals as it normally does at splitting signals.

You need an A/B switch. You can buy them at any Radio Shack. However, the input select from your TV must be done manually from the A/B switch. There is no device that will allow you to combine the two signals to one feed, allowing you to control it from the input select on your TV.

Sorry, I know that isn't what you wanted to hear, but that is the case.

Does your TV just have the 1 coax line in? If you have RCA, S-video or other inputs, you could use those, and use the input select on your TV remote. You just can't do it on the single coax line in.

I would think that if you would connect one of the Tivos to the other Tivo then to the TV it should work fine
Just connect your cable or what ever to Tivo #1 and from your output to the input of Tivo #2 , then from output of Tivo #2 to your TV it should carry both signals. You may or may not have to power up one or the other, but you cannot have power on both at the same time. it would send a mixed signal to your TV.

This is a tough one to answer because you did not specify what your source is and what tuner you are using for channels, as well as what kinds of inputs your tv has.

Assuming you are using cable with your tv tuner (no cable box) and your tv has only one coax commection (no A/V inputs) then you sould simply use a source selector (turns one coax into several coax or A/V connections). They cost $20-40. They also allow you to connect multiple devices (dvd, vcr, game).

If you want, email me with more info and I can help you straighten out your gear.

the long and short answer is yes HDMI cables offer better quality sound and picture than the standard cable however like anything you buy you get what you pay for and these cables are not cheap. To get into it a little more cable broadcasts in 730p and HD dvd's like blue ray are the only options for real 1080p quality if the largest source input will be cable TV and the occasional DVD run HDMI from the blueray 1080p DVD player and a standard cable to the TV however if you are using a cable HDTV box to get HDTV service they will require you to use HDMI cables be prepared to spend about 50 bucks per cable the good news is when your done you'll love the new TV! I hope this helps
