don't even bother with body lifts,go with suspension lifts. susp. lifts are easier to do and are alot safer.they also do more for you off roading than bodylift will. Depending on what year wrangler you have you might have four coil springs instead of 2 coils in the front and 2 leaf spring packs in the rear. coil springs are the easier of the 2 setups. i reccomend ol man emu, rubicon express,or rancho. as with any lift you will need new shocks rancho rs 5000 will be great.

Brett you do not want to put a 3" body lift on your Jeep to many problems. Maybe 1" max! You have what is called a YJ model look at replacing the shackles on the leaf springs you should be able to find them for a price that won't brake the bank! you will also need to change the shocks to the right size. Any more then 2" and you may have to change the brake lines. And don't forget to get an alignment on the front end!!!!Welcome to the Jeep World. It can be a sickness

Brett Body lifts are DANGEROUS!!!! A much safer way to go is suspension lifts. There are so many different types of these you need to decide on a budget and start looking at different kits. The best thing about kits is they come with most of the parts and instructions! Start with Rancho or Skyjacker etc. Also enlist the help of your dad a friend or a friends dad who is mechanically adept. Don't be afraid to talk to other guys with jeeps you might see in a parking lot. Anybody driving a nicely built jeep will usually be more than happy to talk (read brag) about their jeep. IT IS A GREAT SICKNESS. Welcome to jeeping and keep it clean side up (if it has a clean side) gotta luv mudn

A suspension lift is the way to go. Body lifts are dangerous and do not look good, they allow the body to flex on the frame which was not planned for in designing vehicles thus creating problems with doors opening and closing properly and generally creating a hazardous situation while maneuvering.

you also may have problems with shifter linkage and the gas filler neck hose will elect to be lenghtened. I placed a a million" on my Jeep and the gas hose develop into stretched very tight. a three" you'll probally elect to interchange it. A body raise is more competitively priced yet a suspension is better effective. you could also look right into a funds advance suspension raise that's spacer blocks that bypass over the coil springs. the cost is analogous with a body raise, uncomplicated to position in and with some kits you do not ought to get new shocks.

If none of the body bolts break off, just raising the body is not to bad. But many things need to be watched or modified such as - master cyl.lines,linkage's- shifter, clutch, steering shaft, parking brake and gas pedal may need to be made longer. The fan shroud and the radiator hoses might need to be modified also.Sometimes wiring may need to be extended.Just a few things to be concerned before starting this project.

If you`re going in the woods this might make sense. I think this cheapens a nice rig and does not stabilize them either if your only on the roads.
