I got my cartilage pierced about 6 months ago and i thought it healed but it started to hurt. I took it off a day ago and there is a little bubble where my piercing was! It looks like it's flesh, could it be possible that a piece of flesh grew out of my piercing? and why?!!

That is a keloid scar. It will keep getting bigger. You should go to a doctor and have it removed. People with lots of pigment in their skin will often develop keloid scars from piercings, especially in the cartilage. I'd advise no more piercings there for you.

Ok try doing sea salt soaks on your ear for 5-10 min. 2-4 times a day. That will help remove any bacteria thats stuck in your ear. What you do is buy some sea salt (in the spices section) and mix a teaspoon of sea salt into a cup of warm water and tip your head to the side and let your ear soak in it. Then make sure you rinse your ear off after. Also before you start to overreact, go back to your piercer and have them take a look at it. They are the experienced ones and will be able to tell you what you should do about it. Didnt get it done professionally? Just go to any piercing parlor and they will look at it. Just go! Then you may go to the doctor.

thats a keloid! which is an overgrowth of scar tissue. i had the same problem after about 3 months i noticed it. one day i went to get my hair cut my stylist caught my jewelry in the comb and pulled thr brush up really fast practically tearing the jewlery out, causing my piercing to bleed but it got rid of the keloid, dont know how though.

you shoudl go to the doctors and have it looked at it will have to be removed "surgically" for it to go away...but dont keep your jewelry out if the doc tells u .

good luck, hope it gets better

This happened to my x husband too. i think it is more cartilage built up. YOu may not be able to keep your piercing, he couldn't. It means your body is building up a barrier to what is in essence a wound. I had to give up an upper ear piercing because it wouldn't heal.

The bump is definitely a keloid... and yes it will keep getting bigger unless you take out the piercing. I got an industrial about a year ago and now I have two lovely keloids on the top of my ear... attractive...believe me... take it out before it gets any bigger.

Nope, the problem is that u didn't use a HOLLOWED neddle that is the proper one to use in cartilage, when it is pierced the cartilage remanins move to the sides, the hollowed neddle takes the remains inside itself.. my advice, see a doctor!

That "fatty bubble" as it's called is either infection or scar tissue.
If you massage it with warm compresses it may go away.
Use peroxide to clean it often.

Mine never went away after a year and still hurt like crazy...i let it grow closed....
