I don't know - and, in fact, neither do you.
Only history will reveal the outcome.
I do know that we could not ignore the Islamic terrorists any longer. Their demands are clear, and their tactics of murder and maiming thousands of innocent men, women and children are crystal clear. Their objective is simple - you will convert to Islam and yield to a one world government under Islamic Law - or you will die. I personally don't like either of these options.
Perhaps a better strategy or policy can be established to fight these psychos, but cut and run is not an option. And I haven't seen a better strategy from either party yet.
Make no mistake - these Islamic radicals must be eliminated if the world is to have any resemblance of peace.
For all intent and purpose, they have already defeated Spain, and France isn't far behind. We cannot let their tactics of terror and intimidation result in their victory. They must be made to realize that murdering and maiming innocent people will not, under any circumstance, help them to achieve their objectives.
For what it's worth, I am not blindly loyal to Bush or any other politician - I'm just intelligent enough to realize the magnitude of this threat as concerns our future and the future of our children.
This is a war we cannot afford to lose.

Dead is not the worst case. There are soldiers crippled and totally disfigured. Those are the cruel reminder of the war. There was a new program talked about one of the soldier who survived a IED but he face was......
Well, 3 more years to go. On average, there are 2 dead per day. That will be around 2000 more death to go before we pull out. The British is calling a quit. More of our troops are needed to cover. They are recalling servicemen who has served their terms. You should see more of that.
BTW, even though it says no invasion of N. korea. But I am betting my money in less than 3 years. If north Korea does not improve, we will be going in.

How many? 9 that's it. sorry to sound messed up, but for the 200,000 troops we have had over there for the pat 3.5 years 2,800 is not bad. More sodiers die every year in car crashes and training problems, but that isn't reported, why? I'TS NOT NEWS. the average person wouldn't give a hoot about that, but in war, a time when ever a soldier and a marine would gladly do the duty, dies, that is terrible.

No.
No way. No how. Never.
It started because of WMD. Okay. Not found. Get rid of the big guy. Okay. Found. Currently being tried. Terrorists? Names? Places? Found? Uh, no. Can't leave the Iraqi people because they can't take care of themselves? Hm... Possibility of civil war? Always.
Now what?
You know, I just finished reading the answer that posted before mine - it was beautiful. But I just gotta add I'm not trying to politicize - I just want our people home. I know there isn't any easy answer, but progress is too slow and violence is escalating.

The freedom of any nation costs lifes sadaly, and if the Iraq people will fight for thier own freedom it is worth it, but as of late they are not fighting as hard for thierself.
You can't count bodies, if you did WWI or WWII could not have happened, More died in one battle in one week in WWII than the entre war in Iraq, so by those numbers we have lost very few people.
Over all results is the factor you use

You're asking the wrong question. Who cares when 3,000 of the agressors die?
The question is- is the death of 655,000 innocent Iraqis worth America's idea of freedom?

In war, people die. There's no way around that. Those people joined the military to be trained for warfare, knowing that at some point they might be called upon to use that training in dangerous situations.
Millions of men died in both world wars, and they all went into it knowing that their service would mean something.

The value of their death will not be measured by people like you or me, but by the loved ones they left behind and by those who's lives their life and death touched along the way.
Their lives had meaning, unlike your politicizing of their lives.
