No, unless they have a sworn police officer with them. Most Citizen Patrols, are only supposed to observe and report. Depending on the city/Town you are in when the violation occurs, they may have radio or cell phone contact with the local police. They can follow you and document that you are exceeding the speed limit, meanwhile contacting the police station, and asking for a patrol vehicle to come and make the stop. While Citizen Patrols are valuable, if used correctly, the problem is that they begin to assume the authority of police officers.

Citizens have no police powers, and they are instructed not to endanger their lives by doing such things. Traffic stops are the MOST dangerous of situations for police to handle, second only to gunfights in progress.

no, you are just the ears and eyes...nothing more!! they just call it in! here in Florida we have the senior citizen patrol...and man...there on the ball! nothing gets passed them!!

i don't knw but they surelyy can give u a ticket my frnd got one warning like this. i don't knw i think he was an officer offduty. he was drifting in he apartment parkin lot.

nope, one they don't have the proper authority and 2nd you don't know if they are car jacking you or robbing you
