My children now 16 & 19 both switched to water only in the bottle and milk in a sippy cup only for about 3 months after their 1st birthday then one morning the bottle went away. When they asked for the bottle (num num) I simply told them it went bye bye. This worked both times for me, I hope it works for you too. Be sure to take the bottle away completely when they are not stressed or sick. Stick to it for a week and it will be gone. This is best for their teeth. Good Luck!

Personally, I only ever gave my kids breast milk or formula in a bottle. Once I started to introduce other drinks, they went in the sippy cup. I don't think my older two kids even noticed when I stopped the bottle. By that time they preferred juice to formula. My youngest is 15 months old and still nurses, but she never really cared for the bottle. She, too, gets water as well as milk or juice in a sippy cup. If you haven't already, start introducing diluted clear juices in a sippy cup. Often times kids develop a preference for the juice and pull away from the bottle on their own. At one you should be able to introduce regular milk, too. Her taste will change as she experiences new drinks. Just offer them in the cup and eventually she'll lose interest in the bottle. Good luck!

Yeah, you should definitly get her off the bottle. She doesn' need it anymore. You can try giving her milk in a sippy cup and if she doesn't want it right off the bat, then you can try weaning her off the bottle gradually. I think that alot of times a bottle is more of a confort thing, so she might not be to happy about the change. Or she could just accept that she can no longer drink out of a bottle.

all children are different but if ur daughter is already used to using a sippy cup for water she will probably not have too much trouble going off the bottle and strictly to a sippy cup. My daughter turned one in aug. and i just stopped giving her a bottle on her birthday and we didn't have much problem. I wish you luck and just remember that no one know ur kid like you do.

I took my sons bottle away at 5 months old believe it or not. Try the Nuby sippy cups, they are really easy to make the transistion and seeing how shes over one, all the experts say to take the bottle.

I started using sippy cups all the time except at bedtime when my son was about a year, and had switched to milk vs breast milk. I still nursed/used a bottle at night until he was about 2

I found that it was easier using the sippy cups with the soft tops rather than the ones that are hard plastic at first...it seemed to make the transaction a little easier for her.

Now is the time to gradually change to full sippy cup, because she is already used to using the cup. If she has any teeth then you really need to expedite this transition quickly, becuase the nipple can ruin her teeth.
