As someone already mentioned NOT eating or skipping meals is said to slow your metabolism. It is commonly said that eating small meals every 2 -3 hours will boost your metabolic rate (the rate at which you burn fat).

In addition as you get older you metabolism slows because of reduced muscle mass, so basically if you maintain the same low calorie diet / exercise regime from age 20 to age 65 you WILL STILL gain weight, albeit at a much slower rate than someone who does not watch their diet and does no exercise.

Well it depends what you're eating during your meals and how much you're eating. It is possible that by eating even the most healthy of foods, that you put on weight because you are still eating too much.
if you are only eating 1 or 2 meals a day at the most, then it may be that you are eating too much during these meals. Also, your snacking could be a large factor in the weight gaining. If you are constantly snacking on candy, crisps and chocolates, then you need to change this. try nuts and fruit and every so often a glass of milk or water.

You are gaining weight because you are eating more snacks and less meals.

Balance your diet, stop snacking, if you get hungry then its because you only eating one meal a day you should be eating two or more.

If you don't feel like eating in the morning that's fine; I don't either. However breakfast is the most important meal of the day so you should eat something a piece of fruit or a glass of pure orange juice at least.

It's best to spread you eating evenly throughout the day. Breakfast is important if you want to stop putting on weight. Even if you're not hungry you have to learn to eat breakfast. Also look more closely at what you are eating when you do eat that one full meal. A lot of people think they're not eating a lot because they overlook things like condiments or underestimate how much salad dressing they use and stuff like that. Also, how much and what are you drinking? You can drink a lot of calories and sometimes people don't even think about how many calories they drink.

Your metabolism is slowing down. Your body is in starvation mode. If you don't eat your body then stores fat more easily because it doesn't know when it will be getting its next meal from.
Its survival of the fittest and your DNA says it need to store food. Eat regularly through the day and you will soon boost your metabolism and stop putting the weight on. Try having 2 cups of white tea (available in health food stores) a day as this raises the metabolism. Don't over do it though as it contains caffeine.

Never skip breakfast. It will make you snack later in the day.

Look at what you are eating! If its high fat then the weight will pile on.
Eating one meal a day is not the way to lose weight. 3 meals, at regular intervals, snack on fruit in between if you are hungry. What exercise are you doing? Walking is great and you dont have to join a gym to do it. Make sure you are active.

change your eating habits....eat full meal 3x a day, and don't escape breakfast!!!!and without food in between....sometimes the snacks is the culprit of your weight gain......
exercise is necessary to burn those fats, it takes months before you can see the difference of your weight...just be patient.....
