You're lucky, because I know what to do. My iPod Nano did the same thing. There are two ways to fix it: (1)look through the manual, until you find "Troubleshooting". Then, it tells you the procedure or (2) go to the place where the iPod Nano was purchased, and have them fix it. When I went to the store, the employee gave me a new one(don't worry, the songs will still be saved in the memory).
p.s. rate me as a best answer.

Go to www.apple.com and look through the troubleshooting area. I'd suggest updating your iPod with the latest driver download, which should help. If that doesn't work, reset your Nano (the website will show you how).
Also try uninstalling and re-installing iTunes to see if that works.
If nothing works, call Apple tech support. You get one free call and they can help you out.

Sometimes my ipod mini freezes. I plug it into the computer and leave it there over night and usually it starts right back up. If that doesn't work bring the ipod back to the store you got it from. If you still have the receipt and you are positive it will no longer work, sometimes you can exchange it for a new one.

Push the topmost part of the click wheel and the middle round button at the same time and hold for 5-10 seconds. It should reboot. Then plug it into your computer.

Move the Hold button into the hold position, then move it back. Press and hold the Menu and Play/Pause buttons together until the Apple logo comes up. That should solve your problem.

Connect the ipod to your computer, this should stop the freeze - if after that it doesn't work 'I don't know man', take it back for warranty.
