if you're working in a salon without a license, yes, its illegal, but if you're in your friends bathroom feeling creative, no its not.

It depends on the state, I know if you are not licensed and live in IL, and you are cutting a paying persons hair, you can be fined, or if you are currently going to beauty school, never be able to get your hair license. These laws are to protect us, believe it or not you can past alot more things then lice, when cutting hair if you are not keeping up with sanitation. but moms don't worry! as long as you are not chargin' for those bang trims I think you'll be ok

You only need a license if you're working in a barber shop or salon. If you're at home, for example, cutting your family's hair, no license is needed.

Its against the law if you charge them for it, but if your just cutting a friends hair then I am pretty sure its not against the law.

I think each state has a licensing board that regulates barbers, cosmotologist and hair stylists. You should check your state's website.

LMAO.... that is so un true.. My boyfriend cuts his own hair and cuts all my nephews hairs too he has never been fined. the barber just wants your money.

it is punnishable in ca. by a 2,500 fine and or 6 mo. in county jail charged with misdemeanor,unless you have a mobile license.no joke.
