I was having the same problem with my 2 1/2 year old this is what I did

it only took my daughter 2 days, it costs 12 dollars but it is guaranteed or your money back, so it is worth it, make sure you follow the guide exactly and no diapers or pullups even at night.

Let him run around with nothing on his bottom. Seriously, it will make him much more aware of what's going on down there. Sometimes kids get so wrapped up in play they don't even notice when they wet or mess their diapers. It's the only thing that worked for my son. Then once he uses the potty every time he has to go you can start putting him in underpants. Of course this works better in the summer or warmer climates, and you can't really leave the house for a few days.

They will do it when they are ready. I went to my son's Dr. and asked why he was not trained yet and he said "have you ever seen a 1st grader in diapers?" and I said "no". He said "then don't worry about it". We told my son where the potty was on a daily basis and what it was for and when he was ready - he just did it and hasn't had an accident since. The boys are a little more stubborn than the girls. My daughters were much younger and easier.

Well my son was 5 when he was completly potty trained. Time was running out because school was about to start in september. So after everything failed. I had to get a little more aggressive with his punishments. He finally got the point with 2 weeks left before school starts.
Im against people who say you shouldn't spank your child when it comes to potty training. They have to get the point and understand the importance of potty training.
Tough Love is what I call it.

around 12 months. a child knows he's in training. ha just like a doggie, every time he eats, set him on his potty. about 3 times a day set him on is potty for pee. now you know he's smarter than a dog. after several times of this training, he'll get it. mine did. i had mine potty trained at 11 months. both of them with this method. GOOD LUCK!!

I used a sticker chart, set a goal for him to achieve, when he goes to the potty you give him a sticker as soon as he fills up his chart you reward him with a prize. If the toddlar is a little boy you can throw cheerioes in the potty and let him aim for them. This only worked for mine for 2 days. The sticker chart was the thing that worked for me.

Be very consistent and take him to the potty every time you go. Also let him/her pick out their own undies. Don't use pull ups they are too much like diapers!
Just finished training my 3rd and last one! Good luck:)

You haven't mentioned how old the little gaffer is...sometimes WE try to get them potty trained too early, and it's very frustrating. Have lots of patience.

WHEN I USE TO POTTY TRAIN AT THE DAYCARE I USE TO WRAP UP EACH INDIVIDUAL POTTY TOILET IN WRAPPING PAPER AND TELL THE CHILD THEY HAVE RECEIVED A PRESENT.. I WOULD THEN WRITE A LETTER TO THE CHILD ON HOW TO USE THE POTTY. THEN EACH DAY I WOULD WRITE ANOTHER LETTER LETTING THEM KNOW HOW PROUD I WAS OR SAD I WAS. YOU CAN SAY THE LETTERS ARE FROM SANTA, THE EASTER BUNNY, GRANDMA OR WHOEVER. JUST SOMEONE WHO THE CHILD FEELS EXCITED TO GET LETTERS FROM. ITS USUALLY GONNA BE SANTA
