The kitten might think that the other cat is its mom or that it will take care of it and have milk. It is normal for a kitten to do this. If the other cat doesn't mind the kitten I would let it snuggle with the cat because the other cat might teach it things like eating solid food or bathing. If the female cat doesn't like the kitten I would try to keep them separated or let the female cat get to know the kitten so it might like it more and let it snuggle.

Good luck!

It does happen sometimes. I had a male Siamese that suckled on my favorite teddy bear. If the older cat doesn't mind, let it go. The kitten is physically old enough to be off mother's milk, but was probalby too young psychologically. Do whatever you can to make the kitten feel loved, safe and secure, and he will be able to grow out of it. The older cat, if she likes the kitten, will be a good surrogate mommy to help him through.

I had a kitten that I brought home & 'suckled' my female cat. My older female cat excepted the kitten like if it was her own and let her 'nurse' from her. They bonded very strong to each other which is what cats do. They slept, ate and groomed each other all the time. I asked my vet if it was okay to let the kitten suckle, he said "As long as the other cat doesn't mind, why not?" She did grow out of it!

Yes, it is normal. I have had young adult cats who try to suckle on blankets and my fingers, but they grew out of it. The older cat will likely swat the kitten, and he will learn to leave her alone.

10 weeks old is not that critical, he is old enough to adapt now although ideally he should have been with his mother a little longer.

Be sure to make the appointment to have the kitten neutered as soon as the vet feels he is old enough.

Yes. My first cat was a small, black Persian-Siamese mix. He was rejected by his birth mother, and he considered me to be his "mother" because I used warm milk in a doll bottle to feed him. He would suckle my thumb after he started on kitten food. The vet said that it was normal behavior and as long as he adapted, then to let him do it. So as long as the older cat has no problem with Baby, I say let it go.

Yes, this is normal. It's lovely if your older cats allows this. I have lots of animals and I've had one adult pet rat help to take care of her sister's babies, kittens suckling from others cats and a dog who nurtures and allowed kittens to 'suckle' from her.

He is just trying to adjust to being away from his mother. My kitten was about 8 weeks...and tried to suckle my boyfriend once! lol. He will outgrow this, as they always do. = ) If the other cat doesn't mind than it won't be a problem. If she does....than you might try and discourage this behavior...maybe get him a bottle and formula...

Ten weeks is way too early to get a kitten, is should still be nursing, take it to the vet to see what to do. You could go to a pet store and ask for help on what to use to nurse your kitten, there are special types of bottles you can use.

when I rescued toddler Sparky from a baseball game the place some young ones have been going to throw her in the dumpster, she could have been 2 months old. My 7 365 days old blue-pointe Siamese, Mr. Sam, permit her 'nurse' for 2 months by way of fact it calmed and comforted this orphan kitten. And he desperate he became the father. each night i stumbled on him curled round her, conserving her. pass over Bigfoot cherished her for a pair of weeks and then positioned up together with her. yet Sam became a proud daddy. I definitely have photos of them for the period of the years. She consistently snuggled and laid her head on Mr. Sam. whilst he handed 10 years in the past, toddler Sparky mourned him and searched the homestead for him each night for 2 years. She ought to not have faith he became extremely long previous. She appeared everywhere and talked approximately as to him. this won't injury the 'adoptive mommy'. If it stricken her, she could use her huge bunny ft to go him away. Bless you and her.
