another Commandment split in two so there will still be Ten Commandments? I have heard all my life that the Catholic Bible omits the Commandment about not having any graven images (or something like that). I heard that the Catholics did that so they could have statues of Saints. Is that true, or was someone pulling my leg?

And, I am NOT bashing Catholicism. It's an honest question. I'm Pagan, but I"ve often thought that if I wasn't, I would probably be Catholic.

I said NO CATHOLIC BASHING! I swear, all you Christians are like catty little girls, hoping to get somebody in trouble. All you hatemongers take your two points and begone--you'll not get ten points out of me.

The Catholic bible is slightly different in that it contains extra books known as the Apocrypha. The 10 commandments are the same in all of the bibles. But the Catholic church has its own religious teachings. This is called the catechism. The Protestants only use the bible. The 10 commandments in the catechism are different then that of the bible. The testing for becoming a catholic is from the catechism. They believe that to be a higher authority than the bible. Many disagree with this. So that is the controversy.

The Catholic Church has the same list of Ten Commandments as do Protestants. The Ten Commandments in the Book of Exodus chapter 20 are not numbered. The Catholic Church includes the Protestant 2nd Commandment in its first Commandment. So the prohibition against worshipping idols is in the Catholic list as part of number one.

No. It's in there. The numbering system is simply different. The first commandment for Catholics is the same as the first two commandments for Protestants. Protestants combine two commandments at the end of the ten, but Catholics don't. It all adds up.

Hey, you seem to be sour against christianity, lady... cant' blame you... at times , it is because you do not understand or simply trying your best to be ignorant and I hope you are not either. You see, 10 points are nice to have if you could offer but it is your choice...Yes, about the Catholic Bible... I am a Seventh Day Adventist and we believe in letting the Bible talk for itself... you see, I once taught at a Catholic High School, and I saw them holding a bigger than normal size bible. What they read was ok ...so the dispute here is not of a special bible they have but a book of CATECHISMS which was on the Reference Section , which I came across. Catechism is their teachings , I believe... Brousing through for this topic on the Ten Commandments, I came across the 10 of the bible and their 10 of the catechisms. The second commandment on God forbidding idol worship was ACTUALLY OMMITED. Therefore theirs is 9 now. So they separated the tenth about coverting from the bible and had two into their catechism. So finally, theirs did tally to ten. But the fact is they did ommit the second and have 9 instead of 10... You see, we SDA's interpret the PROPHECIES ,through the HOLY SPIRIT ( John 16 : 13 ) and understand this change very well. All other christian denominations are still blind to this because they either do not understand their bibles or they are simply ignorant.Mind you ,interpretations of prophecies come only from the HOLY SPIRIT, who is the author of such. You see, in DANIEL 7 : 25 , there is this prophecy of this change in God's LAW... That was foretold to Daniel in Babylon about 600 B.C. .. Around 1000 years late, this change actually took place as was prophecied because God sees the future and warns his people about that. The Roman Catholic church through their Popes changed NOT ONLY this second commandment BUT the FOURTH as prophecied... The fourth says for humanity to keep the SEVENTH day ( SATURDAY ) as SABBATH. Today, every protestant churches keep the FISRT day ( SUNDAY ) except we SDAs. Should we hide this occurance, no... why ? Because in Revelation 13 , the enforcement of the 666 , enforced by the second beast ( America ) is already happening and will be at its height, a reccurance of the pursecutions that occured during the changes of these two commandments --- 1260 yrs : from 538 AD to 1798... God wants this preached to the whole world , even to YOU so that we will be prepared for Jesus' return and be saved to life eternal...We must preach this truth not from arrogance and pride but with HUMILITY AND LOVE.. Would you like to join us in spreadind this good news ? By the way, keep those 10 points. May God bless You...

There is no numbering of the commandments. So there ae two traditional ways of numbering them. Catholics use one and Protestants another. Both shorten the verses when just listing the commandments in order.
Catholics do not worship "graven images" of any kind. We do not worship anyone but God, not Mary, not the saints, only God is worthy of worship.

I did a little research and found there are at least six versions of the ten commandments.
Yes, the second commandment from the Protestant set is not in the catholic...but who is to say the Protestants did not add it?

I have no idea who did what...nor do I really care

That IS true. The Catholics deleted the commandment of no graven images, and split the commandment of thou shall not covet. They did this so they could have their statues, and justify their sin. However, not one jot or tittle of the word of God will pass away, so they did this all in vain.
