I recently asked my friend, why dont girls like me? He said that I was too cocky and full of myself. My father also says that I am very overconfident and complacent. I am moderately intelligent but people around me think i'm kind of a genius. I basically act a little aloof because i don't have any friends and people don't get my accent. More than 3 people have told me that i should change my attitude and not boast. Are they correct.
How do i improve myself?

Well, I don't know you personally, so I can't judge your personality. However, if you feel like you want to change, you don't have to play dumb. Just don't show off and brag about how good you are at everything. Girls don't like to feel inferior. They want to feel like they are beautiful, intelligent people--not as a dumb mannequin.

Perhaps you can listen to other people's opinions sincerely and let other people shine every once in a while.

Hope this helps!

Well, being overconfident is good, but people will think you boast. I, personallly, think that being overconfident is great. I know what you mean by genius, I skipped a grade, and everybody sometimes make fun of me, but just be who you are. About your accent, I love accents. You can't exactly change accents, cause that's just the way you're born. Just be happy and glad for who you are. I think that you need to make friends who can like you for who you are and not having you change just for your friends, if you can't agree with yourself and like yourself. This is just my opinion, you don't have to follow my idea, but I think it's a good suggestion.

Confidence is appealing, arrogance is not...there's a line there that when crossed can change people's reaction toward you from "hey, he's kewl" to "geez, what a d*ck"....

Try to work on being more warm/friendly and less aloof...smile and speak to people (make friends!)...and no, don't boast...if you are 'all that' people will figure it out...boasting just makes you sound like you want to feel superior, which is often a sign of insecurity...

Go forth and be personable...confident, but not arrogant...smile...be friendly...and you'll likely see a change in the way people react toward you...good luck!

maybe you should tone it down a little bit, girls like confident guys not cocky or arrogant. have a little humility, don't act like you are better than everyone else. try not to make yourself the center of attention all the time, let somone else have the limelight for a change, basically just chill out a little bit

Yes, people full of themselves are annoying, and no body likes to spend time with them. Don't talk about yourself unless asked, ask about the people around you instead.

you will never be able to please everyone. Are you happy with yourself? if you are then find people who will love and accept you for who you are. If you are intelligent then be proud and stand up for yourself. Don't change to make someone like you b/c you will end up not liking yourself.
