i've had my lip pierced for over 2 years
1. it takes 4-5 months to heal completely,
2. TAKE CARE OF IT. follow piercers instructions
3. DON'T DO IT YOURSELF. you won't do it right, and won't have the right aftercare instructions
4. there are no crusties and smell if you take care of yourself correctly. and don't even think of changing the jewelry before 4 months

1. It takes at least 5 weeks to heal properly. I wouldn't remove the ring or stud before then.
2. Rinse often with a plain saline solution of sea salt and warm water. Make sure you move the ring or stud as you rinse to get the saline into the piercing. Antibacterial mouthwashes help too.
3. DON'T EVER do any piercings yourself!!!! EVER!!!!
4. Even when it's healed properly, you should at least sleep with a ring or retainer or stud in place in the piercing. Lip piercings tend to close up much quicker than, say, ears or other parts of the body.

The mouth is the fastest healin part, so odds are you will have to leave the jewelry in for years before you can leave it out for long periods of time. Clean it as you should twice a day, and after eating/drinking, with somethin mild.. don't overclean, don't over mess with it, this will just irritate it. Do not do it yourself!! Only your piercer will know correct placing of the jewelry, you could end up puttin it somewhere that will migrate out(skin rejects it and it get infected and or pushes its way out of your skin), or having it in the wrong place and chompin down on it while eating.
Go get it done professionally.

It takes about 6-8 weeks, from experience, before you can take it out. I wouldn't advise keeping it out though. At least get a retainer for it. Just take the steps necessary to keep it clean so it doesn't get infected. You can get them from the parlor you get it done at, as I would not advise you to do it on your own. Professionalism is key. Many people have to go to the ER from hitting bad spots all the time when they do it on their own. However, if you're stuck on the idea of doing it yourself, you will need saline to clean it at least twice a day, and if it gets dirty or you sweat from working or something, clean it off with saline after that, too. Regular, antiseptic Listerine, diluted with 50% water to swish at least twice a day. And also twice a day, soak it with warm (not hot) water and about a teaspoon of sea salt for about 30-60 seconds.. Of course, the most important, is to keep it clean with water and very, very mild soap. Only do the sea sealt soak for the first 5 days though. All in all, you should get it done professionally, because most of the time they will provide you with directions and the soaps/salts needed.

It would not injury undesirable like 3 out of 10, its in simple terms that the swelling style of sucks. it oftentimes lasts for a bout each week so in simple terms take some ibubrofen to assist with that. It takes 6 weeks to heal. in simple terms because of fact the exterior is healed up in 2 weeks does no longer mean the interior pores and skin is healed to boot. It fees everywhere from 25 to 50. it genuinely relies upon on the jewelry. oftentimes interior the 25 to 30 dollar variety for many.
