For the most part, ever since I became a member of answers, I have found that the opinions on both sides, and in between, have been balanced, but the only exception appears to be I have noticed way too many people who don't like illegal immigrants, as opposed to those who could tolerate them.

I am referring to illegal immigrants ANYWHERE, not just in the USA, but: is it their skin color, is it their accent, is it their hygiene, is it their culture, or is it something you would not see on the surface, for example hypothetically: what if i knew you for several years, and then all of a sudden you found out I was born somewhere that the stars and stripes don't fly, then you shun me, you diss me. Do you think I would not notice?

Why is this such a sensitive subject?

I hate the snide answers "well they are here illegaly" to me it shows a lack of brains, the people in the civil rights movement were at lunch counters illegaly,it is not a matter of the legality of the person breaking the law, rather it is the legality and out and out fairness of the law itself that should be brought into question, all a cuban has to do is set foot on american soil and boom instant citezenship, south of border folk have to fill paper after paper and still be denied it is a form of discrimination, this country was founded by law breakers , REMEMBER THE BOSTON TEA PARTY!!!???

I personally do not think it is skin color. But, boy do people play that silly race card every chance they get. I support legal immigration, their voice is practically mute. The legal immigrants pay a high price to be here and take the time to follow the laws. Illegal aliens hear a call for better jobs, flee the country and get right into the buffet line of America, and they break the law doing it. So, I concluded that Illegal aliens do not deserve amnesty, need to stop having anchor kids and just follow the law. If they did that, I would not have such an issue with it.

When a country receives large number of immigrants it´s a heavy burden for the country in all senses.
Its own citizens see the possibility of getting a job decreased.

Due that immigrants accept lower wages, legal citizens start earning less.

Due to their bad economical situation many immigrants turn to crime to earn a living, increasing the use of drugs all over.

Those that don´t turn to crime start selling flowers, gum, or pencils on the red lights on the streets, giving the city an ugly look, others turn to prostitution.

Incredibly many immigrants living in the States are not even pro-America, and when in their original country voted for socialists, Communists, and supported dictators. Being the core cause of the disastrous situation their country is in, and also the reason they seek a way out.

At the end of the line the great majority are indirectly guilty of their own situation.

Sounds crazy but its the truth.
Take my word, I´m from Peru.

It's not Immigrants that are the problem.....it's ILLEGAL immigrants. Has someone sprayed the air with something that has made people refuse to note the difference between LEGAL and ILLEGAL?

Without law and order there is chaos. Our laws are being totally disregarded. I could go on and on ,but maybe when your sitting around in your make-shift tent, enjoying rock soup and you can't communicate with the people around you......don't say people didn't try to warn you about the consequences of all this. Financially, economically, environmentally, socially......on down the line. It's not the "occational" one that slips through the cracks....it's the 20,000 MILLION or so that don't care and don't think they have to. If you live long enough, and seen enough ,you learn to pay attention to the big red flags that warn you when something is definately wrong. There's just some of us begging you to wake up before it's too late.

In poll after poll, over 85% of Americans are against illegal immigration. The politicians know it but their sponsors want it or a replacement to continue, so they try to ignore public feeling. However, what you see here is not disproportionate. It is just that when people vote, they are voting for many issues. Only a percentage have this as their biggest issue.

This year, I am one of them.

However, I disagree with the latter part of your statement. I am totally fine with legal immigrants.

its propaganda spewed out by the republican party as a talking point for this election. They are trying to make it sound as if the mexican immigrants are the problem with our society, and we should band together in a unitary hatred of them. Meanwhile its the immigrants from places like el salvidor which really create the problem with their gangs such as MS-13.

as far as your opinion about illegals being hated everywhere, I think you have to take a look at how society has been molded throughout time. There have always been scapegoats, the irish in the young US. The Jews in Nazi Germany, and more. People need something to rally around and hatred of others is a good place to start because people are ignorant and easily rallied.

I've seen no anti immigrant opinions here. There is, however, a deserved righteous indignation about the illegal issue. Where to you get off thinking that the illegals have any right to go where ever they please? There are procedures for immigrating into any country. People that violate them don't deserve any respect. Nor do you. And if you are illegal I DON'T CARE if you notice that you are being "dissed"... go home!

first off, it's the legality of it all. if you're living here, and you're not legally living here, then you're not truly doing your part for this country...ie, paying taxes, making a living, contributing to the economy, etc. if it has to do with anything else, such as skin color, ethnicity, whatever, that doesn't matter to most people at all. the fact you'd be living here and working here without your green card or citizenship status, you're getting a free ride, and that's something that causes great resentment among most adults in the usa. hope this helped!

Because the majority of people in this section have brains. Also, there's the simple fact that they are criminals. It is certainly not their culture, hygiene, or accent that upsets me.
And Wanda, lack of appreciation for other cultures is not the issue here. I love traveling to other countries and the challenge of learning their language quickly. Also, education isn't much of a factor. It seems that people who know the laws protest the amnesty movement. See above. Also, I am not a redneck, nor am I uneducated. I have a better grasp of the English language than most Answerers apparently. I go to a well-known prep school and plan to finish college to the Ph. D level.
Dilly, let's not go throw out this partisan crap. I am a Democrat and listen to very little of what the Republicans have to say.
Another thing that proves the only uneducated answerers are anti-illegal:
You may have noticed, or perhaps not, that the main three things pro-illegals rely on in these forums are: 1. Profanity; 2. Labelling (calling people racists, hypocrites); 3. Libel
Interesting. Wanda deleted her answer. Not up to facing scrutiny by other users?

Its partially becuase our immigration laws make it easy to get in legally. Anyone with a little bit of money and effort can make it into the united states. So, anyone who just runs over the border/gets shipped in illegally, we get very upset over. I think it is more an issue with people smuggling large quantities of illegal aliens in, rather than targetting the illegals themselves.

Anyway, I know what you mean; I think immigrants are what make this country great. And I don't really mind illegals too much, I blame the smugglers. No big deal.

People get on the bandwagon, that's all. They think their hatred is accepted here, so they keep dishing it out.

Really, most reasonable-thinking citizens of the USA do not hate somebody just because he is an immigrant-- after all, most of our ancestors were.

It's about the immense burden these illegals are putting onto the taxpayers... they sneak in, have children, and their children become eligible for welfare which supports the whole family. The laws need to be changed, so that a child whose parents were illegal cannot be considered a citizen eligible for welfare.
