Why do people bash on each other in here? I mean, I have friends of almost every religious background including athiest, agnostic, christian, muslim, buddhist, etc... and every one of them are generally nice people. Now, I am going to specifically deal with the atheism vs. chrsitianity debate.

Why do people that call themselfves christian bash on athiests for their beliefs. As a christian myself, I think they are misguided, but they don't deserved to be attacked and pestered all the time for what they believe. Conversely, I have seen one too many athiest questions attacking christians for a small group of people that have given this religion a bad name.

A few examples: the child molesters in the Catholic church. The people that have a "holier than thou" attitude.

If anyone actually read the bible, you would realize that the main point of christianity is not about trying to convert others. It is about loving your neighbor, loving your enemies, and turning the other cheek when

struck.

Christianity is about loving God, and because of his love for you, you should love others.

I guess my point is to tell everyone to get along, and maybe give a little info in the process.

Any extra questions.... waterboy@aemail4u.com

Yes, I have read and understand the Great Comission, but when people didn't believe in him, Jesus still loved them. Love is #1, spreading the word is #2.

For born again- I wasn't bashing on the Church itself. It really is a great institution. It is just sad that a few people in positions of power have abused what power they have been given.

And, if you read my previous detail, I said that love comes #1. That is what everthing about our religion comes from. If we didn't love them, why would we preach to them?

I believe people "bash" what they fear. Atheists bash Christians for believing in what they cannot see. But how many of those same atheists would call on God when in serious trouble? They won't admit to it and maybe truly believe they would never call on God. However, many have done just that when faced with overwhelming problems. Perhaps they prefer, whether consciously or subconsciously, to not believe in someone they will ultimately have to answer to.

Conversely, Christians, who should know better, perhaps fear that the atheists are right.

Either way, people have a right to believe however they believe and bashing is NEVER appropriate. A debate between ideas is great, but none of us will ever know the truth with 100% certainly until we die. That is where faith comes in. I would rather believe in God and discover I was wrong (like that is going to happen) than not believe and discover I was wrong.

Bottom line is I believe basing others beliefs is childish.

You're very right for the most part. I dont think I personally would go so far as to say that christianity is about turning the other cheek though. Love your neighbor yes, love your enemies yes, but Jesus himself was the one who wanted us to evangelize and to preach the Gospel to all nations. How we do that can sometimes come off very rude, which we were warned of. The best advice comes from Paul when he said to have a ready answer for the faith you have, but give it with love and a peaceful tone.

You don't have a clue what being a Christian really means.

You say people "bash" too much, then you unload on the Catholic church? That is 'bashing'.

Now, the main point about Christianity is doing God's Will, which includes witnessing to them about God's Word.

If you actually read your bible and understood it, you would see the ignorance in your statements.

Christ’s Authority

“Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen” (Mt. 28:16-20).

The great commission, sound familiar???

You started out asking about Yahoo answers I believe, and ended up in the Catholic church.....Which is fine..You have some very good points. People are just going to be the way they are, no matter what their beliefs. And if we all lived the way the Bible asks us to, we wouldn't bash eachother....Unfortunately that's not the case....
God Bless You ! !

You are right - there is way too much bashing - I think the reason is because these people are not face to face with the people they are bashing and do not comprehend that there is another human beings with feelings on the other end
