I saw on a Dr. Phil show where the parents tried to "divorce" one of their 17 year old twin boys and were turned down. If he wants to try for emancipation he has to prove just cause such as that you are an unsuitable guardian.

Try to work it out with your grandson...he's really not that bad. He could be worse you know. He likes Christian music and his hero is God...is that so horrible? He also would like to work things out with you, you know....read his question where he asks how a compromise could be reached. Teens are kids, trying to be adults and find their own identity. You should just let him be himself. Remember the 60's and how parents were appalled by their children dressing like hippies?...well most of those hippies grew up to be very respectable and successful people.

It depends on where you live. In most states the legal age of majority is 18. Otherwise you'll have to go to court and prove that your parent/guardian is not adequately caring for you, in order to get emancipated.

No. He has to go through the court system and become emancipated first. He can do that any time after the age of 12, I believe.

At 17, you are still a minor but maybe too old for juvenile matters court.

So, since you are closer to 18, chances are the cops will treat it as an adult, and focus on younger kids that ran away.

If your talking about parents, probably but you won't be able to get housing or other things you'll need until you are 18. If this is a court sanctioned guardianship, you need to check with the court. Probably not.
