No one had videos made 10 years ago when I went to most of the weddings I've been to. Now my friends are saying I should get a videographer, but I'm worried the person will be in the way most of the time, and that people will think I'm taking the whole thing too seriously.

What do you think? If you had one, are you glad you did? Do you ever watch the video? If not, do you wish you had?

The day goes by so fast- it is a blur.
I am glad to have my video- of the ceremony only- to go back and look at.
It brings the day back and you even remember the people that were there to celebrate with you.

Yes, you should. A video can be more precious than photos because it records both the unique actions and the voices of the people you love who may not even be around in a few years. And a pro videographer will be less intrusive than even a photographer. If I had to chose just photos or a video I would pick the video every time because it can capture so much more flavor from both the wedding and the reception.

Good luck!

Mark, welcome to the new age wedding. Things are done so differently then from those 10 years ago. Yes, I would have the wedding taped. If you have a professional, they will not be in the way. They know how about not making a 3 ring circus out of your happy day. My daughter just got married in May. If we did not have the tape, which I have watched 3 times, I would not been able to know what their vows where.

My daughter had the family dog as ring bearer, and her wedding gift puppy there at the wedding. So, I was babysitting the little ankle biters. So, I didn't get to see all the cermoney. So, please if you can afford it, do have it taped. I have had several copies made and given them out to people who were unable to attend.

When my grandbabies start arriving they will be able to see when Mommy and Daddy got married. I think it's great! I wish I had mine done years and years ago. I think they video back then...so, I could look back at my husband's side burns, my 70's Farrah haircut, the Grandparents, and family that aren't here today. I vote YES! And most people today have their weddings taped, it's almost a requirement now...it's expected. So, please smile pretty, and have the wedding taped..you will be glad you did.
I promise...

God bless us all............

I'm very happy I have a video of my wedding and reception. A professional videographer should not get in your way. If you don't want to go to the expense of hiring someone you can have a friend set up a video camera on a tripod and let it run through your ceremony. We set it up to the side and behind the flowers so the people in the church couldn't see it but it was focused right on us during the ceremony. Then have someone you know video your reception. You'll have better results with a professional but if you can't afford it you can do it yourself. (And yes, we do watch the video from time to time)

Good luck and have a beautiful wedding.

You definately should, like the photographer, the videographer pretty much stays out of the way, they know how to manuver without being noticed. I also suggest placing a taperecorder on the altar, It is very difficult to hear the vows on the video and if you have a tape, all the better. Make sure you get a contract, just like with the photographer, bring all receipts with you in case there is a problem, (people who delivered my cake forgot the flowers for the top and said I did not pay for it, we were able to fax them a copy and they brought it right away.) Make copies of your receipts, keep the original and bring the copy.
The more photos and videos the better. Make sure you make a list of certain people you would like photos of ....Grandparents, favorite Aunt or Uncle, Best Friend,,,,the day goes by soooooo fast and you won't know what hit you when it is over.Enjoy your day and Best of Luck to you!!!!!!

Yes you should have a video of your wedding cause there is nothing better than sitting down a couple years down the road and watching your wedding day on film and remembering how great that day was. Then later on down the line if you have children you can show them the video and say this was mommy and daddy's wedding video. Kids get a kick out of that. I had my wedding shot and I can't imagine not having it now, pictures help you remember but a video helps you re-live. When I get made at my husband a pull out the video and watch it and then I remember why I married him and then I'm not mad at him anymore.... So yes get a wedding video even if a family member tapes it you should have one.

I made a video of my wedding....It's just great. We didn't hire anyone, a friend of ours did it, and a good job at that.
In your case that might be better, then you won't feel that a strangers in your way. It doesn't have to be perfect, in fact the little fumbles in it are what makes it even more personal. One of the especially neat things is that you can get all your friends and family to make a little speech, or comment I should say. That's one of my favourite parts of the video. Listening to all my friends and family talk about the wedding. How young and great everyone looked. It's just a really neat thing to have.
Go for it honey......You won't regret it for sure. And like I said, have a friend or family member do it. Just like you were at a Christmas party or birthday......
Congratulations on your wedding....
And Best Wishes..! ! ! ! !

I think that if you can afford it then you and your bride should have one done. I'm certain that you'll only view it a couple of times but you will be able to show it to your children when they get older and share this experience with them also. In addition it will be nice to have if your ever feeling romantic and just want to reminince. My son and daughter in-law had their wedding video taped and I was lucky enough to get a copy. I forgot half the wedding so was nice to be able to watch it and see what I had forgot from all the excitement. Best of luck in your new marriage.

We were married just over 17 years ago. We had a video done by a friend, and it is nice to have. Mind you, it wasn't done by a pro, and I wish we would have spent the money for that! We do watch it - sometimes at our anniversary. It's the ceremony, plus the program at the reception, and some of the dance. It is really nice to look back on, especially since my mom and my husband's dad have died and they were our only parents at the wedding.

The videographer won't be in the way; they always make sure that they're not.

It IS expensive to have it done, and before you do it, you need to ask yourself if you're really going to watch it.

We're not planning to get one because of the cost, and because my aunt and uncle had theirs taped 20 years ago and never watch it. I've only seen it once. They don't even have a copy of it; it's at my grandparents' house, and THEY never watch it.
